Great idea...Do you wet the squares to block them before putting them on the chopsticks?
@Nancy-hy5so3 ай бұрын
I have no idea what the purpose of that, I was just scrolling video shorts and seen this here video and watched it but idk the purpose of that so what is the purpose of doing that? Is it to sew them together easier or something, or is it to have them neatly display to easy access? Please let me know? I'm so curious
@angelamcneal41863 ай бұрын
@@Nancy-hy5so People block not only granny squares, but most crochet projects. Blocking for granny squares is pretty good for before sewing, because then all the squares are uniform, and you won't have to work with wonky edges Blocking can also help with making the pattern show up better. People will do it with lacy shawls or bandanas, and it makes them look much cleaner. I crochet baby blankets and I block almost all of them. it's a good friend of crocheters for a more finished look.

You can see the chopsticks lean inwards because of the pressure. I had the same problem when I used skewers. Add a piece of cardboard on top with the same holes to stabalize them more and you're golden :)

This is such a great idea! I wonder if you could add another box on top with holes in the same spot to add some more structure?
@althearicaelv.delacruz48135 ай бұрын
yes you can actually
@thefrogqueeen5 ай бұрын
What I do is make four strips with the holes matching the bottom holes. It is much easier to put on and take off. It is so needed if you are doing a stack of squares.
@colourfulsouls5 ай бұрын
Not even a box, you could make a top just out of a piece of cardboard and make the holes on the same spots and just put it on top of this, you could even put one on the middle between half of the Grammy squares to keep it steady as you go up
@cryptikkcries5 ай бұрын
rubber band around the ends poking through the bottom of the box
@TamLou644 ай бұрын
You might be able to use a box that has a lid but instead of placing the lid on top and over the box in the usual manner, flip the lid around and make it fit down inside the box creating a space between the top of the box and the top of the lid. Put matching holes in the lid. This will give it stability by allowing the dowels to go through the lid, through the space created and touch the floor or table or whatever. LOL!

practical and resourceful, this will always be reasonable instead of buying some expensive sticks and a block of wood with holes in it

Might need a bit of fine grit sand paper though. Sometimes the cheaper chopsticks aren't sanded down properly and can snag the yarn.

pro tip, rinse bottle, cut and use it as a yarn dispenser. best way to keep your yarn from eating the car on a roadtrip 😂 bonus - don't cut through top all the way, let it flap, tape closed after running yarn thru top, use lid to secure yarn at top when not in use. makes chasing colors a breeze and storing them super easy, no tangling and can pull the right color every time.

I used a peg board and the extra long skewers from the dollar store. Could fit 4 sets of the squares I wanted in each peg square. I liked having the peg holes for uniformed sizing and stretch length. Then I would just layer and additional peg square on top of each 24 (x4) granny squares. It gave extra stability and weight to the whole thing. I'm making 364 granny squares (due to the math) in a blanket, this way they are all on one place and at the same stretch.

Brilliant and so affordable. I had a horticulture class a few years ago, and we needed to collect dry and press samples. So either pressboard or a block of wood that my pops drilled equal holes in it. My husband is the one who organizes, so he's gonna dig it out for me, and I am SO doing this ❤ better than the chocolate waffer candy cylindrical tin I used last time 😂

Ever try pushing the four chopsticks through so that you can have both sides of the box blocking your granny squares. The box will prevent the chopsticks from leaning in from the tension that the layers of squares are generating.
