Love his quote about Jacob - 'He has his critics but I'm not one of them'. Impeccable character - great that he's back at his best with another US record.

There are a lot of 'bests' across many sports, and many countries. Not many of them act & speak like Jakob and I think that's the criticism. He hasn't had sustained championship results to justify it yet.

The fact they casually talk about WORLD records is unbelievable to me.

That particular record was Mondo in the pole vault. Everyone knows he can break the record by A LOT but he chooses to break it by 1cm every once in awhile just to get the most out of world record bonuses. It’s clever on his part but it’s a little less exciting because of it. He is a few classes above anyone else doing that event and we’ve become jaded seeing him be amazing for awhile now. It’s just expected

Great interview and a very honest interview. Had he been healthy he would have gotten his first world championship level in the 5k. Bronze definitely!

i think he's right about the worlds/olympics being too strung out. They should make them much shorter and run just finals.

@@canuckowlLyles isn’t a poor sport. Listen to his interviews. On the track, he is being showy for entertainment purposes. Bolt did much the same. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it doesn’t mean they don’t respect the other competitors. Getting a pass has nothing to do with being an American.
