I've been rockhounding for nearly two years, and I do 99% of my hounding within 15 miles of my apartment. I live somewhere in the californian mojave desert. Anyway, after all this time, many days spent hunting for agate, and finding a lot, I'd never found a thunderegg. I don't even know if they're all that plentiful around these parts. But a few weeks ago I found a thunderegg! About the size of a softball, and I found it in a dirt lot in betwixt suburbia. I don't have a saw big enough to handle slicing it open and im dying to know whats inside.

Geologic time moves slow. Where you have rhyolite, you would have once had some sort of a volcano. Many years of erosion brought the mountain down.

We all have the right to express our opinions, it is good to be able to say our differences in a respectful way and not put people down for their beliefs. The problem today is, the world is filled with a "my opinion" is the only way and tolerance does not exist..So sad...
