The Patina on my Dune Longwings is beautiful. I love those shoes. The Longwings really show their craftsmanship.

I truly appreciate the transparency of letting us know how much you pay for a side, how many pairs you can stamp out, and how much profit you stand to make. That's honest business, and it's unprecedented as far as I know. I always say I would offer total transparency to my customers if I ever went into business. They would be given the opportunity to fully understand my financial situation, as far as the business goes. Maybe that's a bad idea, but I haven't thought that far into it. I think the price you've chosen is generous, more than fair.

Very cool of the guy 👌 I’m super interested in the business side of these leather products and hearing these details with this level of transparency really gives me confidence in maybe someday doing something similar !

I bought the exact pair you’ve highlighted in this video the dune chromexcel penny loafers. I love them. I’m normally a 10.5 so I ordered in 10.0 and they fit great. After two days my heel slip is going away. The quality is exceptional and they’ve immediately become one of my favorite pairs of shoes. This is my first pair of grant stone shoes and I’ll def have to add a pair of their boots to my closet.

I think you’ll love the suede travelers. They break in more easily than the cxl loafers and feel like slippers in how soft and comfy they are.

Went to get some 44 insoles and they’re already sold out! 😂 like you said I have NEVER seen a thick leather insole anywhere. Thanks for making them Dale

I have the Bourbon Suede loafers, brought them with me to Dominican Republic, now they fit me like a glove with the indentations of every toe. Recently, I purchased the Brown CXL as seconds, and aside from the wonky welt stitches they are perfect. Now I want the midnight blue or gray suede to round out my summer wardrobe!!!

Indentations for every toe.... Hmm 🤔 only my pinky and left ring toe point out like that.

Glad to see some more full grain veg tan insoles available. Very hard to find, they almost always have a layer of foam glued to the back which kills the breathability and doesn't mold like leather.
@jeffloucks21202 жыл бұрын
That Floyd last is so very generous. I have the 7.5EEE Brass and also a 9D brannock. Maybe I'm just so used to wearing more form fitting boots but I need to use an insole and wear med to heavier wool socks with them and they are still generous.

Currently waiting for my pair of travelers in Maduro shell. Super excited for them, because my pair in bourbon suede have been my favorite pair this year. Great video man!

I think 40 is a fantastic price. It's better than RW, and cheeper. Hopefully you get a lot of orders make sure you get the word out in some boot and shoe groups too.

Agreed. I think that's about right. Don't forget about your labor! Nick's, Birkenstock, and Saphir sell them for somewhere in that ballpark.

I think is officially my most-watched video of yours haha. I finally caved and got the Storm kudu loafers and boy....I did NOT prepare when I set out this morning for my initial break-in. Flesh stripped from my heels (the lining is now blood-stained) and even on the right instep it's pretty raw. The fit is actually close to perfect though, I just severely underestimated the stiffness of these when they're straight out of the box. More fool me...

Hahaha oh man I can definitely relate to that feeling!! Now that they’ve broken in they are like butter though

Awesome video! I have been listing after the dune Travellers for a while so this is perfect. I have them in midnite suede and they get so many compliments and are super comfortable. I have the crimson Diesel, the Forest Kudu boot, the veg tan Brass boot; even though I have Carmina, Alden, TLB Mallorca, my GS get the most wear and are at the top of my “soon to buy list” I am obsessed with GS. I’m thinking dune Travellers next, then black CXL Brass boot, then CXL wingtip. Then a Carmina wingtip in #4 shell, I do love Carmina and their Oscar last. $40 buck for inserts is 👌🏽

I like penny loafers but here in east texas people would look at me weird for wearing penny loafers. I also think the loafers were less comfortable than normal oxfords 🤔. I also think boots are pretty comfortable once they break in.

Dale - appreciate all the info. Wonder why GS doesn't make the suggestion on increasing the width on their website? For the loafers, they just make the same suggestion to drop down 1/2 size from your normal sizing (just like the Leo last Diesels, which fit me pretty well with that guidance, though maybe a tad snug across the top of the foot). Really wanting to try some loafers but just wondering about increasing the width. You still feel that necessary as compared to your Diesels, even though you wear the loafers barefoot or with a dress sock? Appreciate the help.
@DalesLeatherworks2 жыл бұрын
If your diesels are snug across the top of the foot then you’d definitely want to go up a width with the loafers!

Can we get a update/observation on your Chisos booots? I’m curious to know your thoughts after a few weeks of ownership.
@markdunn19319 ай бұрын
Did you go half size down from your normal size ? I bought the Ottawa boot half down in size and I had to have it stretched 3-4 times. should have choose the E. Love the boot, I will end up ordering the boot in a E width.
2 жыл бұрын
How was the break in, particularly with the instep/vamp? Do you think going up a width gives the instep extra space?
@j.a.88162 жыл бұрын
I would find it very interesting if, when reviewing a shoe or boot you have worn for awhile, you inserted a picture of the item when new. That way we could see exactly what you mean when you comment on the patina. Just a thought ...

Late to the party here, but how does that storm suede wear? Do spots and dirt show up easily? I’ve never had a suede shoe, so I’m wondering how those CF Stead suedes hold up.

I bought a pair of GS loafers. I sized down one full size. . The heel slip never went away. On top of that , they are very unconfortable. Oh well, at least they look great.

I’m a 10.1 E. Purchased a 9.5 D and it’s hurts my foot if I wear it too long. One of these days I’ll buy a 10 E

Update: they stretched out and fit now. Still too tight with socks but I like the shoe.
@1k1ngst0n2 жыл бұрын
are your leather insoles grippy or slippery? I have some from Saphir and they are too smooth and make my feet slide around in the shoe. Something to consider to make yours better in real life use.
@DalesLeatherworks2 жыл бұрын
My insoles are pretty smooth! I’ll keep this in mind!
@alexsherel3344 Жыл бұрын
Ok just got mine but they seem too big. What is heel slip? Is it slide on the inso;e, like from heel to toe? Or if I have that is my shoe too long? I sized down, but even with socks on they seem too loose. When I step, my heel lifts off of the insole. I’ve never had that. Everything else is the best shoe I’ve ever owned. So before I return it I’m curious. Should my heel lift off of the sole?

Did you resole your boots or did they offer the Dune Diesel with leather soles at one time?
@DalesLeatherworks Жыл бұрын
These came on leather soles!!!
@daveeriksson2 жыл бұрын
I get 9.5 D in their diesel boot so I got 9.5 D in the loafer and found them a little loose. So the second pair I got was a 9 D and they were way too tight. So I'm thinking 9 E if I get a third?
@DalesLeatherworks2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a solid strategy!!!
@jicalzad Жыл бұрын
would the suede loafer break in easier than their regular leather?
@DalesLeatherworks Жыл бұрын
Chromexcel and calf suede break in entirely differently. The calf suede won’t show as much patina as CXL does

@relja51962 жыл бұрын
I don't think the leather outsole can "breathe" or help ventilate your foot. There is too much glue between the leather layers for it to do so...
