This is brilliant. I can't believe how much information you've squeezed into 33 minutes. I'm as new to Blender and 3D sculpting in general as you can possibly be. This is probably the 6th or 7th video I've watched for beginners, but the first that actually taught me useful information. The others talk too much about concept when I just want to start sculpting. Where they simply showed me the door to a whole new world, you're the one that actually unlocked it. Thank you so much.

I tried on my own and I was struggling with the Sculpting mode and all the "too many" tools to use. You've just simplified it to like 3 tools. That's fantastic to see the gaps that I had in order to progress. Thanks a lot.

Your tutorial here is an absolute *Godsend* thank you sir! I cannot tell you how many times I have torn out my hair trying to get some basic sculpting done in Blender. I don't do enough to warrant zbrush at its price. Zbrush core mini doesn't allow easy import of existing models. Thank you so much Grant Abbitt! I had a model I'm making for a game asset in Unity - and right away I see how just having my avatar facing forward along X has been screwing me up - less than 5 minutes into the tutorial and already worth its weight in gold. Thank YOU!

Great video, as always! Btw for anyone wanting to support the guy and struggling with organization, I can recommend the courses. I decided to give it a try because it´s really hard to get a coherent learning experience when suffering from adhd, but the way the lessons are structured, the length and the missing of any fluff have been a pretty smooth experience for me so far. Big W.

This was a fun experience. I have next to no artistic talent at all, and I learned a lot. I first jumped into your dragon tutorial, and I got nowhere at all. I've been using Blender for about 17 years to make very simple models (I'm now in my fifties), and have learned a lot along the way, but I've been avoiding sculpting for as long as Blender has had sculpting, for the above-mentioned lack of artistic talent. My immediate failure with the dragon was quite depressing, as I need to create a child-friendly dragon for one of my projects. I resigned myself to having to learn to walk before learning to run, so I found this sculpting tutorial and made it all the way through. My head looks reasonable, given my near complete lack of artistic talent, and I've regained my motivation. I'm impressed with how much can be done with sculpting for someone like me with just a few tools.

I think that smoothing shouldn't be used till the end. Is better to increase the policount as much as possible from the beginning to really experience digital sculpting, use a brush that builds form fast. Do not care much about weird textures at the beginning but think about building the right forms first and once that is accomplished then refine with smoothing. Don't start refining from the beginning, Do it at the end. Thanks for the tutorial, you are a fantastic teacher and beyond that, you are a fantastic person for giving away this information for free.

Just want to add something for beginners who also use a graphic pad/pen: Another option for views instead of using gizmo or pressing numpad is "ALT + Hold and drag left click" to the direction. I felt very intuitive and easier to work since my finger are already on Shift or CTRL. Tks Grant, great content.

wow, I had no idea you could remesh over and over. I thought it was something you did after you were done. Ok, so remesh just sort of finds polygons that are too large and converts to more detail and also ones too small? and ups them so that most of them are in a tight range? well, I guess all that matters is you can keep equalizing to your target range every time. Yeah, big to small. Foundation and form first because if you go in detail first, you'll not be able to easily change your big shapes or maybe its iffy but this is very interesting and helpful to see what youre supposed to be doing. thx
