Really nice tutorial! Some things I'd like to add: - The pie menu on A is a really nice alternative to using Ctrl I and Ctrl M. Very handy. - If you turn off the Pinch slider on the Crease brush, it's the same as the Draw brush.

Hello CGboost! Thank you for you help! this is the best sculpting tutorial i can see. I am originally a blendeer intermediate but didnt learn sculpting. I made cool textures, animations and models before but sculpting wasnt what i usually did. I am also an artist, I can draw portraits of others perfectly fine. it is just that I wanted to learn 3d art and found you. your video really helped me work out my first ever head! Thanks

It becomes clear to me that I need a better PC for realistic models. Meaning it's either simple objects for me, or I manually cut the parts of the model that require more meshes for fine tuning.

@cgboost

It should stay on top by default, but I might be wrong, so if it's not staying on top it's probably just the mode not being set right. I have a qeustion about vertices. I am using this Video as a tutorial on sculpting, but I decided to make a non-human face in an attempt to get some feel for it. Thing is, I stretched the mouth part to create a snout, but that also means I stretched the vertices apart, making it more difficult to create precise facial features. What should I do? Should I just use Bevel (CTRL+B) to create more vertices, or is there something else I could do? I always forget about the subdivide.

@@cgboost I went back in your Video and it looks like a simple remesh would have done the trick as well. Though the topology is not really mirrored. Some forms are different or are placed on another edge. Is that a problem, or irrelevant for sculpting?

@@TurKlack It depends on if you want to have a symmetrical subject. If so, you can actually mirror the mesh in edit or sculpt mode.

Couldnt you just start with an existing head and just alter it?
@cgboost
@cgboost 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do that. But starting from scratch lets you learn the anatomy fundamentals and the real shapes of the head better (because you have to apply them yourself and not go with a readymade base model - which is of course faster and easier, but it misses the learning aspect - so it is rather advised for more experienced users)
