We did the Colorado BDR in 2019, south to north. If you really want to get fired up and motivated, buy and read the Butler BDR map!

This video should have way more views! Great camerawork and editing. I've lived and biked in CO for over 12 years and gonna do the BDR for the first time in a few weeks. Have ridden most of SW Colorado but never followed the entire route. Thanks for posting this and Cheers to our brothers down under ✌️

I guess there are many ways to do the BDR's being a life long biker I go with light weight as a priority that eliminates these 4 or 5 hundred pound "trail bikes" I could raise the fender on my Harley put a knobby on the back and have an Adventure bike, I will stick with a 250lb 450cc and a very small pack, that way I can get off the main route and get in to the technical single track which is my preference. Besides it will still run over 100mph, and asphalt is the thing I want to ride on the least.

Just watching this as I lay plans for this summer (2022). I noticed your rental had the Mosko Moto Scout 25 panniers. I purchased a set this spring in anticipation of doing some trips on my 1190 Adv. R and wondering how you liked the setup? I'll be traveling from Washington State (north of Seattle) to Phoenix and back in a couple of weeks, looking to keep it minimalist and off-road. Fun to see your camaraderie... I tend to travel solo, but will hook up with a mate in Salida CO for a few days on my way. Good times.
@GrantJ2 жыл бұрын
It was the first time I had used them and thought they were great, have used hard panniers before but really like the dry bag style of panniers. Cheers
@Dadventures11902 жыл бұрын
@@GrantJ Thanks, Grant. I just used them for the first time on a little weekend jaunt to the Olympic Peninsula. They're nice and narrow. Biggest drawback is ease of access... 5 buckles to undo to get into the bag. I've ended up redoing my packing list to keep regularly needed items out of the panniers. Not a big deal, and nice to be intentional about where things are.

Kia Ora Grant! My son and I met the 3 of you on top of Hagerman Pass. We were riding our BMW F800GS bikes and you took a photo of us standing together in front of the Hagerman Pass sign and left me a souvenir photo of yourselves on my phone as well!

Thanks for sharing your great Colorado experience. Very much enjoyed this video. Any opinion on what the ideal bike would be for navigating this route....let's say with no more than 20 pounds of gear?
@GrantJ3 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question and I guess really depends upon the style of riding you intend to do. However with my limited motorbike experience I would definitely favour lighter bikes for this style of ride. I guess it's always a trade off of light bike for off-road and heavier bike for the road sections! Cheers

G'day guys, great vid. Spent a lot of time in Colarodo but never on a bike. Planning a trip in 2023 with a bike ( I'm Aussie) I see your bikes had local plates? Can I have some detail if the bikes were temp imports or local rentals or purchases. Just for my own research. Cheers

Dig the video and enjoy the editing. I am not trying to be hateful, but I really hope you have invested in some proper riding gloves for the street. Those mechanics gloves aren't doing you any favors. You spent all that money for the bike and gear, just spend the money and get some proper slide protection.
