I’ve recently started going back to slow paced technique practice both in shadowboxing and on heavy bag. It definitely has allowed me to go for longer sessions without feeling burned out too early on. Good video bro! 💪🏾

your kicking is beautiful to watch and very clean. i've been improving my kicks doing muay thai but it's inspiring seeing bagwork that incorporates both practical striking and flashier tornado stuff. really happy to have found your channel.

I have been having trouble working out with the best consistency due to working morning, afternoon and night shifts doing security work. I train stregth and conditioning and martial arts and I had to change my program to reduce the training time and increase training frequency so I can workout everyday and the training sessions dont take so long. Its the only way for me. Hopefully In a few years time I wont be working shifts anymore and then I can train the way I really want and always at the same times. The sleep schedulle always changing has been a big barrier to me. Best of luck for your stuntman work! Hope to see you in a big movie or tv show soon.

Yeh absolutely dude, sleep is majorly important but easily overlooked. I feel like I'm a completely different person after being sleep deprived. Everything is so much more effort.

Great video man that 19 mins felt like 5 mins it was so fun watching your vid definitely related to that not seeing results fast enough I think for me i struggle with is kickboxing bag work and boxing when I throw a sidekick in the air it’s nice and proper technique when I try to do the same kick to the bag it’s as if the whole technique suddenly change I think it’s because I have a bad habit of kicking to close to the bag but none the less great vid man I really like it all but my favorite part was jumprope part

Yeah man, this is why it's important to have a range of different training methods, because they all bring different challenge

My biggest struggle with shadowboxing or even heavybag is that I feel too repetitive. Admittedly, my repertoire of punches and kicks is small, but it always feels like I'm not doing enough because I'm just doing the same 1-2-3, 3-2-3, 1-2-3-4, or variants of 1-1-2 over and over. It feels stagnant and unimaginative. Would you recommend maybe watching matches or something so I have fight ideas to bring with me for slips and punches?

It feels silly for me to ask this, having heard the "but does it work in a fight"-thing too often in my tricking days, but; What's your goal/purpose in training? Are you competing in any discipline? Or are you in it mostly for the self development/fitness/enjoyment aspect. Enjoy seeing you train btw, good video :)

Thanks Sam, yeah for me it's something I do for personal development and hits many categories. This is something that onlookers often struggle to comprehend when they know me a little or see me train, because most people aren't able to do something so intense and consistently without having 'the big prize' to aim for. I've just always done this and I don't really have to give it much thought any more.

I started with TKD and did about a year or so of it, but then found more benefit in training with other martial artists and incorporating different things into my repertoire

Very good. Any comment on your breathing technique for this workout esp with the bag?
@grantstevensma
@grantstevensma Жыл бұрын
I generally try to keep my breathing controlled and through my nose, when I'm not striking specifically. It's a more efficient breathing technique and actually the proper way to breathe. When you do this as well it creates what's called an 'oxygen hunger' meaning that you aren't able to take in as much through the nostrils as the mouth, but overtime it improves your cardiovascular capability. Eventually, as you become more fatigued you will incorporate mouth breathing, but this technique allows you to bring that in later.
