I wish I had found your channel 2 months ago. My grade in pre-calc would be vastly different. Your videos make so much sense compared to my teacher's recordings for our class. Thank you for doing this hopefully this turns my grades around from midterm on!

Thanks for your vids Mr. Mclogan! I've understand everything pretty much about graphing rational functions. Really detailed and clear for me. This would help my upcoming Finals exam.

Can you use the factored version of the term or does it have to be the unfactored version

When finding the X-int , you used the quadratic formula and got an imaginary number, However cant you factor the quadratic and end up with (x-1)(x-1) and have the x intercept be +1 ?
@josephnguyen39455 жыл бұрын
Factoring the quadratic does not give you (x-1)(x-1). (x-1)(x-1) = x^2 - 2x + 1, which is not the quadratic we are trying to factor. It is impossible to factor the quadratic using conventional methods, which is why he resorted to using the quadratic formula(the most powerful, albeit tedious, method for solving quadratics).

How did he know in 8:22 that it wasn't factorable by factoring with rational numbers? He made it seem as if it was common knowledge or as if there was a technique to know.

How about if your slant asymptote is y=x+2?? How are u goin to graph it?

Isaac B how so? I have a Masters degree in secondary math Ed. The amount of errors in some of Brian’s videos is amazing. At 10:10 a student asks about solving for X. His response is wrong. I’m sure this dude is nice and knowledgeable. He just needs to edit out the errors and focus on attention to detail. His audience is susceptible to partial or inaccurate learning with so many mistakes.
@isaacb38504 жыл бұрын
Tmw Batman okay, I understand. I thought you were just being picky, and calling him out just because he made mistakes, even if he did correct some of them. But if he did make some mistakes that were never corrected then that makes sense. Also he cant entirely make a script because this is just recorded while he is teaching in a class and sometimes he doesn’t know what the students are going to ask.
