Can adding a Graphic Equalizer help you fine tune your stereo system
From reducing Sibilance, Bass rumble, Help Vocals, Match Speakers.
To keep the videos short as possible this is the Part One
I will talk about the ADC SS-115 a little more in the follow up video

I've had many amp's, receiver's, and speaker setup's. The only thing that hasn't changed is the 12 band I bought with my first setup. I adjust with every different room my stereo has been in. I could not fathom, (or afford), to play with speakers and amp's. What a great video. Equalizer's are a music lover's greatest tool.

Thnaks. Graphic equalizer can come in very handy in tweeking speakers to amps. These seem to be frowned upon by a lot of HiFi purist and instead buy different cables to try and tweek the sound. Yet the original souce would have been recorded using mixers and graphic eq's

I would say most hi fi need a EQ, don't no why they stop making them. I always have one on my set.

I have a Numark 10 band equalizer, but I haven't used it for years. I just ordered the manual for it, and I think I also need new speakers. Hopefully I'll be able to start listening to a lot of music again! Great video!

Yep, I was the classic hi-fi nut, had the Pioneer sg 7 band eq. Sadly it's been gone for a long time, but now, I'm really looking for a good eq again.

thanks for this. I just ordered a Phillips 10 band equilizer to tame some Bose speakers which are too bass heavy with too much treble roll off. this has been helpful. ✌️

Michael, Enjoyed the video... I want to add an Equalizer to my desktop system, but I am reluctant to purchase (Price) what I'm finding for the "Home" I've have used "EQ" via software, but it has limitations, I've looked at "Schitt" "Bellari Audio" even some "vintage" (Yamaha, TEAC, Radio Shack, etc.) I want something with a "small" footprint (looked at Behringer FBQ800) but I'm thinking about trying an "Auto" unit with it powered by a "12 volt AC adapter" think this might work? (SOUNDXTREME 7 Band Passive Stereo Graphic Equalizer with Fader Control ST-EQ-180) Thank's Phillip

Hi Phillip I see both unit you mention are quite small indeed and will give you some control over the sound eq and not expensive. I know radio shack " realistic " do a small graphic eq about 5 cm wider but much taller, but these only come up now and then at a realistic price and do not cover so many bands. If I see anything interesting flicking around the net I will get back to you.

so are u sure can clean it well i have facing this issues my OEM product if use near the beach side with in 6 month some noise producing this EQ board if use WD40 clean each control it’s ok but after 2 month again same issues so if i use this cleaning spray can solve ? where i can get this ? amazon can buy this ?

Nice video. My turntable us wired to my amp so I thought I would get a graphic equaliser as it doesn't sound to good but I've wired it up but the left and right led lights are flashing but I'm getting no difference In sound even when I use the equilzer sliders. Someone said plug the turntable directly into the graphic equilzer I didn't know you could do that

Your Turntable output will be to low to plug directly into the graphic equalizer without a phono stage amp in between. The graphic should be wired as this video shows, plugged in to your amps tape input ( in/out ) or ( play/record ) depending what it is labeled on the back of your amplifier. But once done make sure you press in the tape monitor button on your amplifier. If that still fails then try swapping the tape input/output connections on the back of your amplifier. It sounds to me that the graphic EQ is just not wired properly into your amplifier.

@@MichaelYates thank you for your reply the red and white cable is in the input of my graphic equaliser and then it's plugged into my rec output of my amp. its a technics su-x120 and a beringer mini fbq800 graphic equaliser

@@djpaul146 Looking at the 2 units, you should have 1 cable ( red/white plugs ) going from graphic output to the amps tape play input and another cable ( red/white plugs ) going from the graphic input to the amps tape record. Then select tape input from front panel

@@djpaul146 Sounds like maybe some kind of feedback on the tape input, Could try swapping the 2 cables so that graphic output goes to the amps record and the other cable to the graphics input to the amps play, Other than that maybe this amp does allow the graphic connected to the tape input and output, The only other way would be to get a little phono stage pre amp / turntable pre amp about £15 and connect the turntable to the pre amp and the output of the pre amp to the graphic input and the graphic output to an input on the amp.

Great content. I just love graphic equalizers. But can we hook up a vintage turntable (JVC QL5) to a GE? I have an integrated amp with RCA phono inputs. I wonder if this is at all possible. Got no satisfactory solution till date. Thanks.

Nice looking turntable, you should just be how to connect the turntable to the phono input of your amp and connect the graphic eq to the tape rec/play inputs/outputs and on the amp select phono input and press tape monitor button for the graphic to come in to play. If you amp does not support a tape monitor button then you would need a little phono pre amp to connect between the turntable and graphic eq to bring the turntable outputs to a level the graphic can use.
