This... this is so beautiful. Look at all those great books! Picked up Nightwing and definitely want that Batman omni. Persepolis has been sitting on my shelf but I need to be in the right headspace to read that kind of story.

I'm looking forward to your review of the Disney masters. Specifically if the stories are any good. I've been enjoying the Don Rosa stories.

Omar, as you noted at the end, the coloring on some of the stories in the Balloonatics stands out because those are reproductions of mid-2000s printings of those stories. The pencils on those stories aren't Barks, either. They are done by Daan Jippes based on Barks' scripts and layouts.

Nice to see you show the Carl Barks Vol 25, i have that on digital. Yeah it has short stories i Really like long stories my most favorite story from Carl Barks is The philosopher's stone. The Duck Avenger book looks like its from Donald ducks pocket.

JL Odyssey was an uneven series, but mostly fun. Abnett did a nice job after he took over the series.

I read the first issue of JONNA AND THE UNPOSSIBLE MONSTERS and it's a lot of fun -- it's Chris Samnee drawing monsters, how can you go wrong? I'm holding out for some collected editions in larger sizes, though. I know the smaller size is to make it more kid-friendly, but I don't want to look at Samnee's art at a size that's even smaller than the original issues...

BERLIN is awesome. It is historical fiction. You're in for a treat. Lutes is brilliant and BERLIN is his masterpiece. The HC is a stellar edition, too.

DC started doing the vol number on the back of their TPBs this year, I think. Vol 1 of the new Justice League Dark has it on the spine, and the rest have it on the rear. EDIT - Turncoat is great. Alex Paknadel is a really underrated writer.
@marcelo-ramos3 жыл бұрын
They started doing it since 2020, at least. The last 6 trades of Wonder Woman have those volume numbers in the back.

My pick of the month was Barbaric so I highly recommend that, by Vault Comics. It's about a barbarian and his talking axe! What more do you need? I believe it's going to be a series of mini-series with the next volume due out next year.

I just watched your Superman by Grant Morrison Omnibus Overview video and it looks like your version is a misprint version. It is indeed Sholly Fisch and on 6 Minutes and 14 Seconds, the left page does not have any word bubbles. Also few other issues...

I went and got the 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Solo Classics Omnibus', and it's essentially a masterclass lead up to the 'Infinity Gauntlet' storyline. It's not the classic Guardians of the Galaxy though, I was a little confused going in. All in all a good read though, definitely worth the money. It's a behemoth of a comic book.

Let Sleeping Bones Lie is a story written by Barks but not illustrated. The artist of this story is Daan Jippes. That is because this story came out in 2005 and it is a remake based on the original story with the same name that came out in 1971. The original story is also not illustrated by Carl Barks but from John Carey. That is because at that time Carl Barks had retired and was only giving some scripts once in a while until his last story in 1996 at the age of 95 (!)

Also, it is definitely a re-colouring

Berlin is absolutely incredible and it's not as dense as it may look... I'ts a costumbrist portrait of the Weimar Republic (Germany in the 1930s)... so it's obviously very political, one of the main themes (if not the main theme) is the rise of the nazi party between the people (from different social stratums) of the city. It's a perfect historical fiction story, it's well written and it helps you understand this part of European history.
