That is amazing isn't it? I find that regular drawing pencils will transfer too but they don't have that effect and are harder to clean off.

Thank you so much for this video. In addition to appreciating your technique and the lovely artwork you produced, you literally saved my Gelli plate when describing how to remove the graphite from the plate. I had used a Craftsmart acrylic paint pen on my plate which made a beautiful print...but it left a print that would not budge on the plate. The baby oil did the trick. Thankyou!

This is so Cool! I actually got pencil accidentally onto my gelli plate and found out the hard way about needing baby oil to get it off! But when I tried to see if it would transfer, it didn't. Soo....is it only the water soluble graphite that transfers? I just found your channel and look forward to watching more. Thanks so much!

Can you add stamps and stencils on top of the pencil in the gelli plate to have move layers than just the graphite.

I am still exploring all the possibilities with this. I have added a layer of white covering a face and then stenciled the border around it and it came out. If you let the layer over the graphite to dry then you should be able to treat it like any other layered print.

Yes. It works with just about every paper good for drawing. The reason I use the calligraphy paper is it slicker and more of the graphite comes off it onto the plate. I tend to draw very light so I need this extra help to get it as dark as I want to print. You can also use any paper you commonly gel print with to pull it up. Also you can use other colors to pull it with as long is they are light enough to get the image you want.

Interesting process. I wondered if you have tried pulling your prints with heavier paper than deli paper, which is not available in my country? I can get the calligraphy paper and actually have it and have used it to pull prints, it works for some processes but not others. Mostly I am using layout paper for prints, but am about to try cartridge.I am not much interested in using crafting techniques but drawing is a fine art process, and right up my street so I will definitely be trying this! Thank you, it’s the first time I have seen graphite used this way with a Gelli plate.

I use all different kinds of paper to pull prints. I use the deli and tissue paper because they have a translucent quality that works well for my collage work,

Tracing paper is close to deliwrap.

@@avanellehansen4525 it does not take anything wet well though. The maddening thing is I can see good paper being used in the catering industry, but it is only sold wholesale and in huge quantities, meaning I cannot get my hands on it. Occasionally I have been able to save some and reuse it, tons of this stuff gets thrown away, it is even a very good size for prints, in the U.K. it is just not available unless you buy it in multiple of thousand sheets, and from an industry outlet.

Just make sure you wipe it all off and everything will be fine

Yes it did. I used some drawing paper and it transferred but had a bit of texture. I went back to the tissue because it works better for my collages.
