Grappling two on one: The russian tie *Head position is really really important in a two on one. Maybe I forgot to mention it. shintaro.teachable.com/p/russ...

Thanks again for the video Shintaro! I really liked how you outlined one of your partner's possible responses to a Russian tie and your own subsequent counter responses so thank you!

I find that when I get a Russian tie people tend to either try to turn into me or keep there legs away. Therefore, yoko wakare is usually the easiest throw to do with a Russian tie. My $0.02

Yep and as you've shown us it's a great time for a tight waist turn throw or reaction turn throw for the post as well. Being on the isolated arm you could get creative too just know you're out in the weeds it can work though.

Very good video. I am really interested in your no Gi training. How would you classify your judo style. Traditional with self defense? Thank you osu!

Shintaro Higashi well said. Osu! Once your academy has the green light to reopen. I will make an appointment, to try a class. I have been in contact with a rep from your academy. Thank you for your response. Osu!

Dear Higashi Sensei, I really appreciate your amazing work, I find it a very valuable resource for enriching my standup grappling game. Could I have just 2 humble suggestions please? Currently both of you are wearing black rash guards, which makes the upper body movements of you two difficult to distinguish. Maybe switching to different coloured rash guards would ease the learner's way! My other respectful suggestion might be more difficult to consider, maybe having a third person to record the videos would result in having a constant focus on the action, again helping us mere mortals! Domo arigato gozaimasu! どうもありがとうございます。

Great suggestion!!! Thank you. Will look into having someone hold the camera too. It gets so shaky though :-)

What is the name for the variation where you grab higher up on the arm with your lower hand, and behind the back on the far lat/shoulder with your top hand? I'm trying to find techniques for that configuration but don't know what to look up.

Are you thinking of an Arm Drag?
@MrGHRocker Жыл бұрын
@@RyanJK88 Yes, but not the drag itself. Rather, the modified Russian tie that you end up in off of an arm drag. Vlad Koulikov calls it the "oblique grip", but there doesn't seem to be a universal consensus on the name of this position. It's making it really difficult for me to find techniques from there. I know there's an uchi mata, a kosoto, and a sumi gaeshi, but I'm looking for a clear system from the "oblique grip" (which is what I will call it for now).

Can u sumi gaeshi from this position as well??
@prandz4203 жыл бұрын
yes if you switch the straight russian tie to a reverse kimura grip a sumi gaeshi works really well
