On the no gi judo stuff: could you make a basic grip fighting strategy video RvL and LvR, just like you did for in the gi? Those have been the most helpful videos for me. (Unless it's completely the same, but I feel like it isn't because in no gi I can't hold on to my grips as much as in gi.)

Wow, first time being the first to comment! Thanks for putting out this great content!!! As someone with a background in Judo and looking to get into nogi grappling/mma/wrestling, this is the exact kind of stuff that I’m looking for. I like how you go into detail on the grips/ties and also incorporate leg grabs too which are the adjustments someone with a pure judo background would have to think about.

That position was just gone over perfectly there's no way you could deny y'all are good together... but it's combat so does this work if I'm not fighting little girls who work well with my body? Kidding ... so absolutely greatly covered and for sure, this is the position to use street if they might have weapons their arms are up and controlled everything about this position is legit. Don't forget the throwby. So many options and the judo is awesome. Great way to put it together going on did harai video showing sosai knee pick harai. No we get it for sure great job.

I see why that head position is so important. Someone who thinking quickly could apply a standing Ude Garami on you. We use this technique when someone is grabbing and pulling on shoulder material. You could also work to apply a standing Ude Gatame on them as well.

Have you seen the lock in the old European manual by fiore where an overhook is used but then the hips and stance are turned completely 180 degrees away from opponent. Your leg on their outside. Is there such a throw in modern grappling and if so does it have a name?
@Shigashi84
@Shigashi84 3 жыл бұрын
You can do something similar with an overhook as well. Im sure there is something very similar. Grappling has been around for a very long time!
@mykulpierce
@mykulpierce 3 жыл бұрын
@@Shigashi84 for sure! I've been trying to learn terms as much as I can! Fiore's overhook gets translated as middle lock 🔐 but unfortunately many of those that go through these dusty manuscripts are not as knowledgeable of practical grappling as someone like yourself. If you ever get the itch there are a few free PDFs floating around that compile the various versions of Fiore's "Flower of Battle"

Does my head always have to be higher than the opponent's, right?
@Shigashi84

Not necessarily. For hopping through, uchimatas, head should be higher. As long as there is sufficient off balance, it should work.

@Shigashi84

A little bit. But mostly by product. the focus should be on your hands, off balancing of your opponent, and most importantly, keeping your own balance.
