On this episode, we visit an outstanding roadcut for some Graptolite fossils. This is a great location to stop by if you're in the Metaline Falls area in NE Washington state.
These organisms are colonial animals known chiefly as fossils from the Middle Cambrian through the Lower Carboniferous.

After growing up in Eastern Washington I'm still learning something new.... Last time I was in Metaline Falls was 1984..lol

I also don't think the town has changed much since 1984, its a bit of a time capsule.

Thats my home. I miss it so much. The zinc mine shut down years ago and its more of a vacation area now. If I work my way up there I'd love to show you some cool spots. Big meadows is nice. Obviously Gardner caves is awesome. Nice stuff in sweet creek across from the high school. Boundary damn is super cool when they open up the gates. And peewee falls is beautiful!

I like seeing what you can find on the east side of the state. I'm from Snohomish County and spent a ton of hours researching BLM maps and old studies so I have found a ton of sites on this side of the mountains but havent done anything on the East side. If you ever need location data on the west side let me know.

Yeah, there's lots of hidden locations still out there waiting to have some light pointed at them. I'll be sure to keep you in mind, we do plan on doing a west side trip as fall comes around.

Normally I put high resolution photos in the video but I kinda had some issues with this one so I just post them on my Instagram account. There's a link to it in the description box of this video.
