I went back in time today and did something I used to do all the time. Grasshoppers, they are a delicious little treat when your hanging out around the camp fire or just having fun in the creek. All you need to cook grasshoppers is some butter and a little bit of critter glitter. Fry them up and Eat good! Hope you all enjoyed this video!

I definitely understand why you would want to make something good of grasshopper season in Texas. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the darkest black cloud go over me and it was grasshoppers. I was stationed in Ft Hood, Tx. I remember a many car pile up on I-35 because the interstate was covered in grasshoppers. The interstate was like ice from grasshoppers. I also remember playing volleyball on a tennis court and after a while we had smashed numerous grasshoppers. Only a matter of time before the fire ants came then it was game over.

I was in Taiwan a few years ago looking to eat grasshoppers. To catch them they run a pole crossways off the back of a small motorcycle. The suspend several gunny sacks from the pole. Several trips through a field and the sacks are full of 2 to 3 inch red grasshoppers. Pull the heads and legs off wash and fry in oil. I thought they would taste weird but they were delicious. Dip in a spicy sauce and its a treat to eat . Grasshoppers are considered Kosher in the Jewish faith. John the Baptist "ate honey and wild locusts for his meat".

Salude! The Native Americans used to score huge grasshopper harvests at pond/lake edges. Great source of protein! Appreciate you willing your audience to think outside the box! If anyone thinks it’s “gross,” they aren’t true outdoors persons!

I live in NorthWest Indiana and I've lived in Illinois(Chicago), Florida, Georgia, and Texas..I have never seen grasshoppers (or moths or beetles) like I did when I lived in Texas, they're literally EVERYWHERE during certain seasons they cover buildings (grasshoppers & beetles outside of stores, even the McDonalds drive through wall) and windows (moths inside stores)..

Great video. The complete instruction regarding the removal of legs because of the barbs and head and guts. Several years ago the guy that played the Beaver on Leave it to Beaver was on a late night show and he accepted a challenge to eat a bug. He ate it whole and ended up in the Emergency Room with lacerations to his stomach. I have watched different programs in the past where they went to Mexico and China and insects are a delicacy and worth trying. Thank you again for your great videos
