I love this mouse, so cute! They fail to mention that in the wild, the grasshopper mouse calls out in the night to proclaim its territory and victory over its enemies (like scorpions and centipedes, which it happens to be immune to their venom). It’s simply amazing!

@Sam Considering they fight and eat scorpions, I believe it! 😁

That hurts my ears, but my cat is intrigued and has materialized from some unknown corner of the house, and is now patrolling the living room looking for the mouse. 😺

given what i know about smaller mammals in general, like cats and dogs, they hear much higher frequencies (>20kHz) than us. it's very interesting to consider what information for these mice exists in that range which is not only beyond our hearing, but beyond the capabilities of most commercial speakers to reproduce. i'm sure the equipment y'all use captures the full range of their "songs" and i'm super curious to hear what they sound like slowed/pitched down. very cool vid!!

I can't even hear those squeaks. Born with hearing loss and wear two hearing aids
