You keep bringing back great memories for me ! Paddled the prairies and the bush back in the 70's. Keep them coming and thank you...

I will, but it'll be in the forest next time. Thanks for watching!

I just found your videos not long ago. I love to relax after work and watch them. It makes me feel as though I'm there. One day I will make it from Florida to Canada to paddle those rivers and lakes. Thank you for sharing your adventures.

This guy is the real deal. Great videos! You make it look easy but I know how much effort you must put into capturing these excellent adventures for the rest of us to enjoy. Glad I found this channel.

i think south Saskatchewan is the most underrated region in Canada. So beautiful. thanks for vids. keep them coming!
@GRSRiverrider7 жыл бұрын
I agree. This region for sure as it's not crop land and still has that wild beauty. To the East of here are the badlands, and you can ride horse for 24 hours without seeing even a single telephone pole.

Nice video. I think I would have been frustrated with all the barriers across the river though.

Very nicely done video. You sure got to see a good amount of wildlife -- and dams! I visited Grasslands National Park 7 years ago. While I didn't paddle there, this video took me back. Thanks for sharing your trip!

I also saw fish splashing in the shallows several times (the shaky camera scene just missed one instance), a coyote drinking in the shot before the scene with the fawn (missed filming it by seconds, it ran up that hill), and while filming the sun down time lapse another deer at the camp in the video, as well as two buffalo going to the water to drink. Thanks for watching!

Excellent ! I've seen owls nest in similar river banks. Thanks !

It was a first for me; took me by surprise. There were four of them sitting there but two took off before I got the camera set up. Thanks for watching!
@ericl29695 жыл бұрын
Well, I learned something. Those looked like great-horned owls, and I never would have guessed they would nest on the ground. If there are mink along that river, that would be a pretty risky place for nesting (the parent birds can't be there to protect the young at all times).

For some reason I've never associated prairy with waterways. So, thank you for showing me I was wrong. Nice trip in a beautiful scenery. That scenery is what I am dreaming of when paddling in the civicilized environment where I live. Also beautiful but in a different way. One similarity is the high banks at both sides of the waterway bringing the horizon back from kilometers to only meters. Anyway, thanks for sharing your adventure Cheers.

The most beautiful scenery here is found near the waterways. From the perspective of one who wants to put a canoe in the water and paddle up or down stream, the prairies have very few opportunities. There are plenty of small creeks that drain into the big rivers that cross the prairies on their path from the mountains to the oceans, but they only have enough water in them during spring runoff. They make for beautiful hikes the rest of the year. Thanks for watching and the comment!

thanks Sask....good to see you back on the water.......................how far is that from Swift Current?
@GRSRiverrider7 жыл бұрын
About an hour's drive to the park boundary, then another half hour or so into the park. Thanks!

Fantastic as always, and the deer running across the river was so cool. And was that the "Pathfinder" ss cup I saw make an appearance?
@GRSRiverrider7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, that is the cup in question. Got it and the bottle as a gift a couple of years ago. I don't travel without it.

Well done! a very interesting trip with lots of prairie life to see. Lots of pullovers where do the beavers get the wood on the prairies? As an aside I live on the shores of Frenchmans Bay off lake Ontario. No Prairies here Thanks Brian 77

Thanks! I filmed 21 beaver dam crossings before I started leaving the camera off. In editing, I could really see how I had filmed too many.

Sask,I kayak myself 3-4 times a week I ve watched hundreds of videos, i keep returning to yours, empty, quiet, mysterious and replenishing, I hope you keep doing the them,........ im turning 60, when i was 16 i worked a cattle ranch in a small post near you called Hazlet......perhaps that has something to do wiht it....LOL!.....thank you

There will be more. One trip didn't work out this year, so I'm one canoe video short, but there's a different one coming yet this year.
@thomascarney46817 жыл бұрын
If it wasn't for those bank beavers you would have been dragging that canoe most of the trip. Might not have a bottom left. Very relaxing videos. Two thumbs up
@GRSRiverrider7 жыл бұрын
You're right. Without the beavers there would've been no canoeing. Thanks for watching!

Always nice, and quiet
@GRSRiverrider7 жыл бұрын
It was. The day it starts on is Canada day, and that place was so quiet compared to any other park I've been to on Canada day. Couldn't have been better, except maybe the water levels.
@michaelwolf87817 жыл бұрын
Very nice. Have to go there next summer👍

If you can get there earlier than I did, there may be more water to paddle. Thanks for watching!

So much better without the music thanks. Not much shaded areas there. Not at all like Ontario. Thanks again.👍🇨🇦

Glad you enjoyed it!
@nelsonthomas48994 жыл бұрын
Then again, just being out and enjoying the rest of the paddling and all the wildlife would have made it worth the minor hassles.
@GRSRiverrider4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the wildlife helped to ease the hassle of all those dams. There were a few sightings that didn't make it onto the video. This river had more than average wildlife. Probably due to virtually no watercraft traffic. Thanks for watching!

I haven't picked up a pair for canoeing yet. I have a tough time finding anything that lasts longer than a year in dry use. What would you recommend?
