Eleven is right. This might be the best tape we have from this seminal era -- not that we have a lot. The November LA Shrine shows are fiery good, but put them alongside this and you can how far they've come in ten weeks -- learning at the speed of lsd. A groovy Sunday guaranteed! The Dead in the middle of the Great Pacific Northwestern Tour -- and off the tracks from their first note -- molten psychedelia -- their first self-promoted tour, with Quicksilver Messenger Service -- who were also on top of their game -- wish there was tape of them too. At this point Cipollina and Jerry were, along with Jorma, the kings of the mountain -- and QMS material was a perfect psychedelic mesh with the Dead's.. Plus a baby Dark Star (5:49), the third known performance (and recording). This tape used to circulate as 1/22/68 (and the Archive still lists it so dated) but JerryBase establishes the correct 1/26 date and says that this Bid You Goodnight is actually patched in from Carousel 3/31/68. Muchas Garcias, Elaine O,O.O. What a great way to start the day.

Oh yeah, Did many Dinosaurs, Barry Melton band (he called me a Social Darwinist) shows from the stage at The Saloon, SF. Cippolina's vibrato playing was the psychedelic sound!!Take care 💀😁
