It was 45 years ago that the GD walked onstage, the lights turned red, and Jerry launched into 'Sugaree.' It was my first in-person GD show. I was 18. I'd see them three more times in the next two weeks, in NYC (4/29), New Haven, and Boston.

This in my opinion is one of the really killer of 77 everyone flocks to early May but the late April and late May shows were my favorites for 77
@mattschrader50473 жыл бұрын
You don't really believe that. You jus' trolling. Much like stereotypes there's a reason people bring up early May 77 shows. Those shows were almost as good as any show from 69, 70, 71 or 72 - just not quite. But then again I don't remember anyone asking. Oh well just needed to be said
@rajsuss3 жыл бұрын
This was my first show. I got to one more show in April, on the 29th at The Palladium (NYC). I was fortunate to attend two shows early in May, too; on the 5th in New Haven and on the 7th in Boston. All four were great, as was the other '77 show I attended, in Englishtown on 9-3.
@marcbernicker2063 жыл бұрын
We went to this show. Drove up from NYC. I was a 20 yr old having the time of his life. I remember it clear as a bell as I did not trip for this one. Jerry was animated and rockin and Keith was breaking out the synth. The vocals including Donna were great and the set list couldn't be beat. They were approaching a high point and they knew it. They were having a great time playing for us. I'm a lifer since 1973. i have some photos i took that night. jerry on the bean and bobby with a short beard! look it up if you dont believe me

Just a comment on the recording...very clean, and intimate. Something that I find missing in a lot of recent recordings coming out that's here on this one is the "noodling", and tuning between songs. Of course it's not really necessary to be included but anyone who's been to a show knows that the "noodling" gives your recording a more authentic feel of being at the show...just some Deadhead commentary from Canada 😇🇨🇦...
