Yeah I found myself oddly circling the.soundboard ludicrously lingering near it LAST YEAR!!!at aWeirWolfs show. I wasn't particularly intoxicated yet like some Demented Lost Sailor clinging to a Time Space Warp actually was Assinine enough for a split second to start and ask someone who vaguely looked like HEALEY "hey man can You hook me up with a Tape!!!!??? DUUUUUH!! Talk about feeling like a MORONIC STRANGER so Yes THANK GOD You YOUNGSTERS Have THE TORCH IGNITED BRIGHTLY!!!

I know right when I thought we were out, . . .they suck us back in with the ultra clear shows, a lot of these are better than the same ones on archive like 12 30 85. Its not just young people. Its the original players learning how to do this. Plus GD themselves, the sound board to these shows was released

My sons High School has a Dead cover band of kids that are excellent (Squid is the name ;->). Our small town of Honeoye Falls in upstate NY has a huge population of young Deadheads. When Squid is playing all the parents show up wth their kids and Dance around. For years I thought I was the only one, BUT, come to find out. WE ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!

@kiss742000 9/14 is very underrated. After a shaky couple of shows to start off the tour, Jerry plays this night like he has something to prove. He's on fire the whole 2nd set. I remember Jerry doing a windmill towards the end of Fire and shanking his left hand in pain after a blistering Sugarmags. Totally agree with your assessment of the the 90 MSG run Kiss742000. This ChinaRider still gives me the chills.

I went to this entire run, think it was 9 shows, anyhow, this is easily the best China/Rider I ever saw. Think Jerry and Bruce really got off on playing together. This entire show may very well be the last GREAT Dead show.

@@janeseamore1370 Wow. That is a BIG statement especially about 1994. They began to leave me empty after 1993--I saw Chapel Hill then and it had moments for sure. But 1994--they lost me there. I will give it a listen though for sure!!

yes, my favorite China>Rider. 6/16/90 is also REALLY good; but this one takes the cake. I know, I know. 8/27/72 and all those from 74' with the Uncle John's jam in the transition. Those are all amazing. But there is just SOMETHING about this one that stands out and keeps me coming back. You can tell that this isn't your typical 90's China Rider early in the transition. Jerry is flying all over the place. It's truly incredible. What's even more incredible is the Jerry/Bruce solos during Rider. Holy jeeeez
@ICU2HI5 жыл бұрын
This is a spectacular jam. I've seen them play this more than once and no way I could tell you the difference between shows. I do know I would be dripping wet when I walked out after the show especially when they played this. What an amazing Band & Experience. No one could explain it just was absolutely unbelievable.

Oh Yea! this one just blows you away! I was at 2 of these shows, I might've been at this show. Two guys were in front of MSG, nervous and tryin to sell a ticket. I bought it. First row, 4th seat, for $20.00. Took it up to the ticket booth (with the guys) to make sure it wasn't bogus. Never get that again. These cats were SO nervous, they just wanted to leave. Next night, got 3/4's of the way up front, before one guy saw it was for the night before.

I was a high school student in Boston in '73, but knew nothing of the Dead at that time. I woke up for school the morning after the shows, turned on my bedside radio, and the DJ was raving about these shows, just out if his head about how exciting they were and how long they lasted. I was really puzzled and didn't fully understand. By the end of '74, after my first semester in college, I was a committed Deadhead. To think I could have easily attended these shows!

Hamilton was special. Foreign countries created many logistical quandaries for us. Being pre 9/11 it was relatively easy to pass over from buffalo....but still the potential for disaster was there. That particular show was rock solid.

I was working in Yellowstone NP for a summer in 1990. Met a girl in orientation. I could tell she was into the Dead and i asked her what her favorite song was. She said China Cat Sunflower. I cannot remember her name, but when i hear the song, i always pucture her face.

Certainly one of the last magnificent Dead shows. I think, and it's just my opinion, the last great Dead show was in Hamilton, Ontario on March 22, 1990. Especialy the "Hey Jude" > "Fantasy" > "Hey Jude" coda sequence. They had their moments during the Vince era but Jerry was mostly gone as a result of his drug abuse and poor physcial health. And Vince was great but he didn't quite cut it like Brent. 1989-90 was their last creative peak live. Still, it's all good and it was all special !!
