I get annoyed how all the Grateful Dead documentaries claim that younger Dead Heads came on the scene in the late 80s mainly because of Touch Of Grey and the MTV video. When in reality it was mostly their older music 🎶🎵🎶 & a new generation was becoming old enough to go to concerts. A bunch of teens who never heard of the Dead. Didn't see touch of grey on MTV in 87 & immediately become fans.

I love that around 2:11 when Jerry tries to go to MIDI for the second part of the solo you can practically see his brain say "where are the trumpets? There are supposed to be trumpets. " Then around 2:43, right before the 3rd verse, he summons Parrish with a finger wave to fix it. Garcia plays a holding pattern until Parrish fixes it around 5:37, then plays ANOTHER round to do an on- stage soundtrack with the MIDI, then draws it out, THEN they do the climax before I Know You Rider! This is like 3 transitions and subsequently AWESOME!

@@GratefulDead5050, thank you for asking. This kid (starting at the middle of the top of the lawn) runs in Birkenstocks at full speed down the middle of the lawn. He's amazingly weaving around groups of Deadheads sitting on blankets. I'm pretty much jaw-on-the-ground watching him. I'm also tripping hard, so part of me is not even sure it's really happening. I see him rapidly approaching a section of wall-to-wall blankets/people: 50 feet wide by 30 feet long, about 100 feet from the bottom of the lawn and the roughly 2-foot high steel fence separating the lawn from reserved seating. There is NO way this kid is going to weave around that section of people, and he's too close to them (going too fast) to stop without taking a serious tumble. About 10 feet before that wall of Deadheads, he leaps into the air. He goes soaring over their heads, bicycle-kicking his arms and legs. He lands about 5 feet in front of the wall of Deadheads, manages to slow down, and finishes the run without hitting the steel fence (and having never hit a single person). Stunned, I look over to my right. I make eye contact with an older Deadhead. He looks like a modern wizard (bald on top, long gray/white fringe hair, longish white mustache, soul patch, round glasses). He also watched the kid's run, sees the look on my face, and can tell how hard I'm tripping. He matter-of-factly says to me, "Yeah dude, that DID just happen." 🤩 -Andy

My Brother appeared to be unphased, however, so he didnt say anything. A few minutes later, the TV they had been staring at proceeded to grow arms and legs, then hopped off of the cabinet, politely opened the door and walked out into the Texas night. My cousin thought he was going nutso and sat there speechless. My Brother, who was sitting right next to him, cooly looked in his direction and said to His surprise: "Are you gonna go get your TV?" 😆 🤣 😂 Thanks again.

Jose Villarreal especially the Dead. Kind of sad, in a way.. The woman I was talking about was friends with the folks at Winterland Productions. They sent her backstage passes for each tour. She offered them to me too, but since I wasn't a beautiful woman or have enough "supplies" to share, I felt like I'd just be in the way backstage. "Hi Jerry! I like the way you play guitar." 😑 As much fun as the coliseum hallways were, now I kind of wish I would have gone back and met them at least once. When I'd ask, Monica, my girlfriend, told me bits about what each member did backstage. Mickey mostly hung out by himself away from everyone and constantly drummed on a practice pad. Phil was her favorite. They got along the best. He was the only one to wake up early like her. Sometimes, he'd meet her for breakfast at the hotel dinning room. She went to more shows than me. I went to a LOT, but after a week or so, I would miss my woods and animals, and head back home. I still have a stack of passes. I keep them in my "Go to Heaven" LP.
