Some covers are definitive… others? Not so much. The Grateful Dead's arrangement and instrumentation of this song far surpasses any other rendition. This version is fine... but the best one, and the all-time definitive version of this song ever performed or recorded was laid down two months later at the closing of The Fillmore East (4/25-29/71).

my 2 personal favorite versions of the song are on "ladies and gentlemen the grateful dead" from 71. and the best imo is on "bears choice" recorded in 1970
