Seriously miss the high res version that was up for awhile, but happy to have this, at least. Definitely my favorite version of the tune, the boys were on fire during the summer of '70 (1970 in general, IMO).

Yes they were, and didn't miss a beat all the way to '74 imo. Even without Mickey ✌

+Marjorie Klovdahl It was a little more specific than that. The song refers to the overall mess at Altamont Speedway for the free Stones concert. I'd like to think it still has context with regard to the American political scene today.

At 1:00 Jerry sings, "Please don't dominate the rap, Rick" - possibly a reference to the subtle rivalry going on on the train the night before, both drunk and vying for Pearl (watch the Festival Express film)
@shelflife38675 жыл бұрын
The song is about Altamont. He sings "Mick" I think.
@dlm92934 жыл бұрын
The lyrics are "Please don't dominate the rap, jack (rapjack)" I believe the term rapjack comes from old cb trucker talk. But im Hunter's annotated he clearly states it is jack. And I'm fairly certain that's what Garcia sings
