Salvation Army and other church resale stores are far less expensive than GW..Don't forget to stop in at local yardsales while passing thru little towns. The part I love best about thrifty, not only does the item serve a purpose, but when it doesn't and because I paid so little for it, I can donate it back when thru. It's a WIN-WIN.. THANK you for sharing.

I love thrifting however the sad thing is that thrift stores (especially Goodwill) have been raising their prices to the point where it's often cheaper to purchase the item new. The plastic storage boxes - you can purchase them new from Walmart or $Tree for less than Goodwill's half price. As with anything, you really have to check and double-check the prices. Don't just assume it's going to be cheaper because it's at Goodwill.

In our area, it's gotten cheaper to go to the church bazaars. The irony? Anything we don't sell at ours for the price of "Pay what it's worth to you" is donated to G____l and priced much higher!

Have they ever! It seems that the larger 'chain' type Thrift Stores otten charge more than items were new, and they seem to have no shame when it comes to putting out chipped dishes or broken items. I still love going on treasure hunts, but am far more selective when it comes to the stores I choose to shop in and how much I am willing to pay for things. Plus, I always go on Senior Days when I get 30% off. I have multiple Coleman stoves, and other camping gear. Almost everything other than food, I buy used in excellent condition. Living on a fixed income means being frugal is a high priority, besides being fun. That said, one still needs to be careful not to become a hoarder. That said, I do have a few Dash appliances that are small and run on low energy.

You have disclosed my shopping secret. This is how my wife and I set up household together in the late 70's. And our RV was no exception. Excellent suggestion to get plastic dinnerware. My rule is if you can drop it from your highest cabinet and not break it. It works in your RV. My best finds at Goodwill for our RV is a $12 flatscreen TV and $2 music CDs.

I spent a week in my new travel trailer and wrote down stuff I needed. Then hit the thrift stores. I am going to eventually build on my land, so i only want to buy what can be used for a long time. I'm sewing my own window covers now using a car sun shade and burlap style place holders. I'll velcro them over the skylights and bathroom window.

My sticks and bricks is decorated in early american thrift store and garage sale! ;) We got some camp chairs with the table on the 50% off at goodwill. We van/tent camp and have gotten 90% of our gear thrifting. Cots, a teepee tent, lots of different coolers. We're kind of weirdly obsessed with coolers... it's a bit of a problem heh. We got all kinds of plates, bowls, pots and pans and even a neat cooler (yes another one) with fancy matching plates and cups. We use the cooler part with a plastic container that's perfect for keeping bread from getting squished. (also thrifted of course) Don't forget doing stuff things like hiking poles. Just a couple of days ago, I saw an inflatable boat. I didn't look that close as it was too big for our van, but might be fun to go out on a lake and chill.

Dont get me wrong I cant buy anything cause I bought an 2017 Avenger off a couple for $15000..oh no leaks, excellent condition. Walls and floor in front, water damaged. Estimated $8000 in repairs. So trusting. So dumb not to have investigated better and swore I would be more careful. So upset. Some said sell it. We did think of trading it but new ones are cheaply made. Used the balance of our home equity. All I want to do us stock it and use it. My husband called it a boat anchor. I just wanna cry. I couldn't do that to anyone. I'm so sad right now.
