If no one has mentioned this yet, your videos reminds me of California’s Gold PBS show hosted by Huell Howser. You’re onto something. Thanks and keep it up.

I love Huell, but it's funny how no one made these comparisons until I started making videos

Great vid! I wasn't sure if too many people connected the Hollywood Reservoir trail to the Sign. One other option is to ride the reservoir trail then take the semi-steep trail on the right that leads you to the Wolf's Lair Castle (Moby's old house), then ride the winding but steep Durand Dr. at the top of Beachwood Cyn til it reconnects with Mullholland Hwy at the mini roundabout. Less dirt, and a bit more mileage, but the homes and views are great.
@GravelBikeCalifornia3 жыл бұрын
I used to pass through this area everyday on my commute to work in DTLA. I would try all these streets because these homes and layouts are so unique....

Knew about that first patch a dirt-- didn't know about that second one though! And I've passed that "Closed-Off" section so many times! Can't wait to go try it out.

It's a short stretch of dirt, but a friend somehow broke an ankle on it years ago.

@@GravelBikeCalifornia Excellent. I live in Hong Kong, so lighter is good. It gets hot and humid here in the summer. I'd love to do some of those LA rides some day. Maybe once/if the world gets back to travelling again. Meantime, my favourite scenic ride in Hong Kong is up a road climb to visit Asia's biggest seated bronze buddha. Well, one of the biggest anyway. It's still fairly impressive. Worth a look if you are ever in Asia. Cheers

So bummed that fire road connector is no bikes allowed. I did it once in the opposite direction, up Griffith and onto the road closed to cars, then taking that connector over to the sign. I usually do that little dirt trail in the opposite direction

@ 7:16 He meant at that from location "The Last House on Mulholland" where you see the H Sign behind him you don't want to hike _directly_ toward the Hollywood Sign.

My girlfriend and I did this ride this morning. I feel like you completely glossed over the fact that the off-road section that starts at 5:40 is dangerously unkempt. I would not recommend this ride to anyone. The dangerous section is so bad that we opted to go a completely different way on the return trip.
@GravelBikeCalifornia2 жыл бұрын
I did mention it was a former road and the video does show it in pieces. That said, I have ridden up it with many people on road bikes before. I did not advertise this as a way down.

I think more east in the main part of Griffith Park. Too many people lurking around the sign.
