Gravelton Clark 2023 was amazing! Given the relatively flat course, it was a very fast gravel bike race. I also learned an important training lesson for my upcoming bike events.

Will be joining my first gravel race on my XC mtb on May (Ovrlnd Grvl) Trying to train to finish the 65km event in 4 hours... Solo rider kaya whew excited for the challenge...

You can do it! I saw the course for OVRLND and it looks like it has more offroad segments than Gravelton. And it looks like it'll be a lot more fun :D

Nice. I liked watching this episode and your analysis. I think your first question is what was your overall NP vs FTP and over the first 30-40km? Had the same feeling and I knew I was much over my capacity trying to hang on to the group for the same reason.... mas madali sumabay sa group while on the road vs solo. Pero yun din yung burned too many matches to early. I think sa akin, overall, kailangan magpataas ng FTP kahit man lang makuha ko yung same condition 6 months ago. Di kaya ng 2 months of training para maibalik. And tama, improve longer threshold pace and train sa VO2 max. Good luck sa training.

Yup! I was wondering my NP. It felt like I was doing 300-400 watts at the start? Haha. Yes, I agree with raising overall FTP will go a long way. Good luck with your training too!

Ok naman yung training. Maybe do 2-3 hr workout to improve your 2-3 HR power. Contact Benedict Abad as coach. I'm the guy who you met at around 90km who asked about 100km route. I'm in the 40-49 cat.
