In the days leading up to the second phase of voting in India, the election campaigning was overtaken by a heated debate around wealth redistribution and an inheritance tax. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP, seeking a third term, accused the Indian National Congress of wanting to take wealth away from those who have it and give it to their support base of minority groups. Congress has rejected these allegations accusing the BJP of misrepresenting promises made in its manifesto.
