Also they don't really have to keep every message and just the source of those which have been forwarded multiple times, anyways WhatsApp already keeps track of the message (not user) if it's been heavily forwarded they just don't want to give the source of it to the law enforcement.

As a programmer, If I need to trace senders we must store data, and if data is stored there is a possibility to misuse of these datas n in case of data breach you can't blame anyone else and this is not just a privacy matter of any individual but it is also leads to national security issue bcoz the WhatsApp is used by almost every person in India and the world as well including military and other people involved in national security. Again, we need more transparency, on one hand we need the NIA to act immediately if it concerns national security but what else can be done with the data? Can this be used to get data on Indian citizens? If so then on what basis? Is it after a Case is heard in court so the courts get the final say to release information? Just because you can use it for free doesn't mean that it's actually free to run. Unless you plan to pay, you're talking ads. So you're going from complete privacy to no privacy. lol Plus, it took years for Facebook to mature its privacy systems and stop embarrassing itself. You should expect some major breaches form your new apps.

Whatsapp is right. Privacy encryption is customer right. If WhatsApp allow authorities to access then authorities can misuse data. As seen lately. We can create another WhatsApp but cannot bring FDI confidence. Also iPhone will have to go , as unlocking rights are with apple only

No, they aren't. WhatsApp is private. The NSA can't magically get in where there's no way to get in... Which they've never been happy about. Of course, in some cases, they can pull some shenanigans to compromise your phone altogether. In which case, it doesn't matter how secure your messaging apps are.

I don’t want government to miss abuse my privacy or some hackers get an easy access to my messages. Because the encryption is weak or none. The reporter thinks it’s okay to have weak encryption or none when people share a lot of personal information daily info like credit card numbers bank information and many more sensitive information the government can build better technologies then being lazy !

India has talented IT professionals who are capable of creating another app. India cannot have it just because no other countries has it is not a valid point.
