India lost decades buying weapons herself when it could have been easily been manufacturing for its needs and for export. Why? Politicians and bureaucrats in Delhi were enjoying kickbacks from weapon imports and hence no policy to manufacture ourselves. But I would say this to you my brother, I think it is a necessary situation where India bought arms from the Soviets and later from Russia. It had served your country well, you have this great relationship with Russia that it agreed to technology transfer and collaboration in research and development, among others, that is the BrahMos Missile, one of the fastest if not the fastest cruiser missile in the world. In fact my country is your first customer for the BrahMos missile. Let us change the situation where your country bought most of your arms from western countries, will the west agree with technology transfer or working together on making, producing and manufacturing of arms? I don't think so. You have a great people and you have great country, if Indians work together, anything is possible.

As USA reduces it's military presence in middle East countries, the stability and security of some of these countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman will be compromised.
