The last 2 years have been strange. It started with the detection of those FRBs (Fast Radio Bursts) and now this. What is indeed weird (and hence interesting) is that the waves are unidirectional and so random. But again by Occam's Razor, it is much more comforting to assume that it is a previously unobserved astronomical phenomenon. But personally, since the Oumuamua episode in 2017 things have gotten interesting. And if it is indeed first contact then it would be great. But probably the simplest explanation is that it is just some phenomenon that we don't know about.

I respect your point of view. But I don't agree. All the evidence that we have been painstakingly collecting and analyzing for the past many years definitely tells me that the only thing to look forward in this life is to find the answers to the questions that trouble me. I find finding answers to questions like "how can we better represent meaning mathematically" (mathematical semantics) or "how can one theory integrate general relativity and quantum mechanics" or "can m-RNA techniques cure cancer" to be less abstract than having faith in an abstract entity to find my answers. I absolutely respect your worldview. But for me, I personally feel that seeking solutions that can actually do some good to the civilization is probably better than seeking some supernatural validation.
