The area Ford spoke to Bill in wasn't an alternate dimension, it was his "dreamscape" so to speak. Just like in Stan's with icons of past memories, the portal, the Stan O' War and the swingset. As they said, Bill can only exist within the dreams of people and typically only projects himself while the environment is made by the individual he's talking to.

I fucking love how the writers just literally made fun of "my little pony", and I still can't believe they actually did it. Unicorn's name, similar to the name of the ruler of Equestria (Celestia), colorful mane, a FUCKING CUTIE MARK (what looks exactly like Rarity's mark). Come on, Wendy called this unicorn "pony", that's just ridiculous and hilarious. And I'm not even talking about her living place (for example: background in there looks like mlp g1 screensaver), fairytales about kindness and pure heart, and another references. Dude, I love this show

I had a theory once for a future episode about who Bill Cypher could control to get the rift without any trouble. I figured it was going to be Pacifica Northwest due to her new found relationship with Dipper after the events of Northwest Manor Mystery. Also she's outside the shack and would have the greatest chance of manipulating Dipper, Mabel or both to get the rift from right under the Pines family's nose. And that it would be relieved later in the episode that Pacifica made a deal with Bill in order to have to the power to have Dipper fall in love with her thus being Bill's willing pawn. Though it turned to be someone else in the end yet it didn't make much sense to me and still does to this day.
