The final 3 episodes of this show are some of the best of any animated series. They are so absurdly perfect for this show. I can't even fathom how many are like me where their kids started watching it and just got sucked into it themselves.

It's actually four episodes, depending on who you ask. The last one was split in two parts for reruns, and that's how Disney+ has it, unfortunately.

@@Gestrid It was intended as 2 episodes plus a long finale special so I consider it 3 as it was originally intended to be. On the DVD box set it's 3 and it was 3 until Disney Channel split up the finale.

Admittedly, my practical side comes in at points. I'm sure Dippers PARENTS will be ecstatic that their 13 year old son is going to drop out of school and team up with his long lost uncle to put his life on the line week after week! They won't object at all, right? I have no reason to believe that Mabel won't eventually find a life away from Dipper. This all happened at an extremely vulnerable moment for her. Everything was falling apart. As to why Mabel can't stay, well, Ford doesn't want her around. He wants his little worshipful apprentice that he can mold into a copy of himself. He sees Mabel as an obstacle to Dipper becoming what Ford thinks Dipper should become. I know a lot of people call Mabel selfish here, and she is. Dipper has been selfish as well. They are 13, it's an age when kids are selfish and learning about who they are and what they want. Mabel is tricked by someone she sees as a friend into granting a wish made at the lowest point in this summer AND she made it, in part, because Ford and Dipper kept valuable information from her, i.e. what was in the globe. I don't think Mabel would have given up the rift if she KNEW what it was and that it was important. OTOH, Dipper got tricked by Bill, knowing it was Bill, because he wanted to crack the code to the computer. That was selfish as well. Both kids have been unselfish and stood up for each other. Both have helped each other get what they want. Like I said, they are kids and make mistakes. I hate the Mabel hate that this episode brings out. At least I hate what I saw on boards when the show first aired, I hope this place is kinder.

@@damonestephens8722 I disagree. Dipper was selfish just as much as Mabel even if he often gave in to her by the end of the episode. The big difference is that Mabel's selfish choices almost always revolved around romance and friendship while Dipper repeatedly endangered everyone (even the entire planet by the end of the series) while disobeying his family and keeping secrets from them. He even turned on Grunkle Stan and tried to shut down the portal. It was only Mabel's love for Stan that won the day and allowed Ford to re-enter our dimension. Dipper is a far worse person than Mabel in the big picture.

17:26 I think it's established in one of the previous episodes that the reason they didn't inform anyone about the rift was because Bill could possess anyone, therefore there is no one you can trust.

I thought it was along the line of "the others wouldn't be able to handle the truth/danger this rift'd potentially bring" and Ford only trusted himself and Dipper since he sees himself in Dipper. Bill knew about the rift and what contained it, and Ford knew Bill knew, right? But i might be trippin.

It's very well done that this was precisely what made Mabel give him the crack in the first place. The great irony is that if they had told Mabel that, which would be dangerous because Bill can possess anyone, Mabel would not have made the deal with Bill/Blendin.

But that's IF that person let him by shaking his hand with a deal. And with Mabel witnessing what happened to Dipper at Sock Opera, it's unlikely that she'll strike a deal with him in any form.

I wanna bring this to everyone's attention. The fact that Mabel made the deal with "Blendin" means she understands and accepts that Dipper want to be in Gravity Falls with Ford. The deal, to her understanding, would allow HER to STAY with him for as long as she wants, not ripping Dipper's chance away. The fact that she got upset when she first found out does not in itself mean she's selfish. People, especially kids with close siblings, do not make the decision to move away on a whim. Ford asked Dipper and he just accepted it right at the moment and Mabel had to suddenly accept that her twin's not gonna be with her anymore in exactly one week? I know there probably are kids who can accept that, but I won't blame the ones who cannot accept that immediately, give them time. The offer itself is not even what Dipper wanted for himself, it's Ford's idea of what's good for Dipper. He said it himself this ep that he wants to create his own ghost hunting show. That's not the same with researching things like Ford does imo. Doing something you want to is great, but also take the time to think things through and talk things through with the people you care about too. What Mabel is this ep is afraid, afraid of losing her brother like Ford and Stan, which lead to selfish action like giving Dipper's stuff away, but she's not inherently selfish. Please don't simplify her action to that of a one-dimensional character.
