I'm surprised you didn't mention Dippy fresh. The fact that she actually created a "more supportive" Dipper, effectively telling Dipper that anything/everything he'd done to support her up to this point wasn't enough was pretty messed up.

True, but even that has an explanation; again, her emotions were in control of her decisions, along with Bill taking over (again, sort of) and manipulating her emotions to drive her to create him. My guess here is that Bill knew Dipper would eventually show up to help Mabel, so he drove her to create a 'better version' of Dipper, as a way to drive Dipper out. It didn't work, of course, but the idea is definitely there. I also made my own comment objecting most of the points here.

The Worst thing Mabel did was always put herself first at the expense of others especially Dipper. Dipper learnt from his flaws and grew from his mistakes. Mabel always thought that she was perfect and never did anything wrong.

@@Alexagrigorieff uh, if you examine her behavior closely, she seems more autistic than narcissistic. And believe me, there's a huge difference. A narcissist would only care about their own feelings, nobody else's. But if you actually pay attention to a lot of Mabel's actions throughout the series, it's clear that she does care about other people's feelings, but has trouble understanding them. She almost never seems to realize the negative impact her actions have, and when she does realize it she shuts it down. A narcissist wouldn't.

Not to mention she tried to favour the "replacement" (which was basically a walking insult to Dipper since these two looked nothing alike and was a transformation to make Dipper more like Mabel so he would say yes to anything Mabel wanted to do) over him and tried to kick him out back into the apocalypse where he could have died at Bill's hands to remain in her bubble with her fake Dipper and ignore the apocalypse she had created, until he gave up the apprenticeship he wanted to do, she only snaps out of her horrible behaviour once she gets guarantee that she will get what she wanted from the start. That to me is much worse than causing the end of the world, because that can be an accident, but if she sees what she did and still refuses to fix it, that's her fault entirely.

@@krystenmarshall Trust me, you're not alone on this one. But I think than more than hating Dippyfresh himself (which is annoying and unsuferable enough) is hating WHY he exists. I mean, litterally, Mabel thought it was reasonable and okay to replace her brother in the middle of the apocalypse when he could have died, just because for once, FOR ONCE, he didn't bend over to fullfill her wishes. She litterally throws all Dipper's sacrifice and unconditional love and support for her in his face by creating "a back-up Dipper with a more supportive attitude", implying not only that he is not supportive enough after he bleeded himself dry for her through the entire summer, but also showing him that Mabel does not love ANYTHING of what makes Dipper being Dipper, she rather have a silly version of her brother that's basically a copy of herself that says yes to all her wimsies and agrees with any stupidity she comes up with. The fact that Mabel NEVER EVER apologized for that or even acknowledged it was infuriating enough.

Now one may say that this Story isn't canon but what makes this interessting is that she told the story. She basically admited that she would do something like that (the same way how Soos admited that he would cheat on a game and Dipper that he would make prank calls)

You forgot to mention Dippy Fresh and the golden teeth. She created Dippy Fresh, a “perfect version” of Dipper where he supports Mabel no matter what, essentially calling Dipper unsupportive and imperfect. She only got rid of Stan’s truth-telling golden teeth when she realised that something bad could happen to Stan or/and the Mystery Shack.

I’ll be fair and not fault Mabel for Weirdmaggedon. She didn’t realize Bill had possessed Blendin and was planning to break the rift, or what the rift was for that matter, So I’ll go easy on her in that point. However, you can’t deny that there were many times in which she was being incredibly selfish, got Dipper to give up something for her, and didn’t learn anything the next episode. I’m open to hearing points in Mabel’s favor, as long as said point isn’t _this_ one: “She’s only 12!” Hey, guess what? *SO. IS. DIPPER.* I swear, that one excuse given by Mabel’s supporters makes me SO mad. Dipper is the same age as Mabel, but when he does something selfish, he almost always gets called out for it, and gets punished for it as well. The “she’s only twelve” argument doesn’t work when both siblings are the same age, but one of them gets punished while the other constantly avoids consequences for her actions.

I never even thought about that part...I always just noticed how she promised to help him work on figuring out the laptop and journal and then as soon as she sees a cute guy she abandons him all week (even while he is helping *her*) , even after the time she said it would be over and could help, she still focused on some random weird jerk instead of her brother. Kinda like she did on Time Travelers Pig. Everyone felt so bad that he was going to make her give up waddles (and yeah, maybe he shouldn't be tryna get with a 15 year old, though really in this one he was just trying to stop her from dating a jerk and a bully, which is also questionable) but the point im making is that's another example of Mabel completely abandoning him right after she said she would help him--literally mid-sentence. To keep the rift safe (Mabel tends to steal and break stuff constantly, it's even addressed in the series and the journal, which she stole and gave to Bill once) 2. To keep people safe from Bill: he warns the kids about Bill because Bill can get into anyone's dreams and trick them or get into their thoughts. If he told more people about the rift, he would make them a target for Bill, that's why only Dipper and him know, because he sealed Dipper's mind and protected the Shack and he has a metal plate on his head.

He even made the rift seem not as important saying something along the lines of "All I need is something from your uncle, something so small he won't even notice". Bill as well chose to trick Mabel when she was in a bad situation. Mabel was overwhelmed with sadness and worry about the future when she was approached. Of course she couldn't think clearly with emotions overwhelming her. Just like when Dipper made a deal with Bill in Sock Opera, he couldn't think clearly from lack of sleep.

Yeah, remember Time Traveler's Pig? Both kids were wrong in that episode, yeah, but Mabel was the one who, out of spite, was willingly and purposefuly messing up history and the entire timeline, nearly destroying it, out of spite to piss Dipper off and then guilt trip him by hitting her head against a pole for a month until she got back the pig she had met for an hour or two. This huge tantrum not only costed Dipper give up any chance he had with Wendy but also got Blendin in jail, and while these two get punished for their actions (which again, weren't okay, but were far less severe), while Mabel, who nearly destroyed the entire time and space by herself, gets rewarded by getting exactly what she wanted with no consequences, keeping the pig she had met 1-2 hours ago. And that's just ONE example of how Mabel tends to take things too far, I could do an entire list and eassy mentioning Sock Opera, Into the Bunker, Little Dipper, Summerween, Bottomless Pitt, Carpet Diem, Boyz Crazy, and of course the ones mentioned in this video. Her character is frustrating because she does as she pleases with zero consequences while Dipper is the one forced to clean up her mess of take the blame for her actions.

And yes, that's another peeve I have with the narrative when it comes to Mabel, and it's the fact that no matter what she does, no one gets mad at her for anything, and the little times they do, that person is framed as being in the wrong and forced to apologize in the end. Her family, friends and everyone seem to just allow her to behave as she pleases and NEVER get mad at her, even if she did something horrible or nearly got them killed MULTIPLE times over her own wimsies. No one gets mad at her, no one helds her accountable, when if it was Dipper, boy, hell would lose over the poor kid for much less.

Mabel's perceived unlikability as a character is - in actuality - basically due to 3 things: 1. The fact that the show occasionally states or implies that she's a "sweet, selfless" character, without actually showing us this. A good example is Wendy and Ford describing her as such in "The Last Mabelcorn", but also the constant conflation of her "cuteness" with "kindness" implies this. It makes her come off as somebody who constantly gets unearned recognition. 2. The fact that Dipper is held against a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher standard then Mabel pisses people off. Par example: in "Roadside Attraction" Dipper just happens to give Candy an offhand compliment, which she wrongfully interpretates as him hitting on her. It also makes her interested in Dipper in the most shallow way possible. Which is fine.... These kids are 12. They're supposed to fuck up like that. Normally at the end, Candy would apologize to Dipper for pressuring him into a date which he was clearly not interested in, while Dipper would apologize for not having been honest and direct with her from the moment that he had read her intentions. Neither of them did something really wrong: Candy just happened to only read the signals which she wanted to read, which is a normal reaction for a pubescent child, while Dipper was clearly too intimidated and weirded out to be clear to her. As was Mabel with Gideon, just one season earlier.... Yet, she wasn't depicted as a terrible person for continuing to say "yes" to his pressuring (and rightfully so). But for some reason, Dipper was supposedly a "jerk" for having been too nervous to explicitly say "no" to Candy's advances. And about Dipper's other - more intentional - social interactions with girls in that episode: those actually weren't really as problematic as stated by the show either. He just talked to them and exchanged contact info, likely allowing him to better get to know them later on. Did the episode imply that Dipper is only allowed to be on speaking terms with one cute girl at the time? Since they've never showed us him EXPLICITLY romancing them, promising them some sort of relationship, making out with them or whatever it is that would have implied some sort of commitment.... You know, the sort of things Stan was suggesting.... We just saw him chatting with them and exchanging e-mailadresses. Nope, Dipper HAD to be the one - and unfortunately the only one - person to learn a lesson. Just as in "The Time Traveller's Pig", in which both him and Mabel were being equally self-centered. I am all in favor of picking "Mabel-Waddles" as superior to "Dipper-Wendy" since the latter was never really going to happen anyway, but you could have just focused on Dipper misreading his chances and accidently destroying Mabel's happiness by doing so, teaching him that it is an illusion to have that one perfect moment. And allowing him to reset the timeline in Mabel's favor afterwards, even getting him to apologize for only having been focused on his own needs earlier. The way they wrote it, just made it come off as if "Dipper has to give up everything for Mabel and not the opposite". It's not even that he has to be the only one who gets the moral lessons, he's also depicted as the only one who needs to make sacrifices.... 3. Not only does Dipper HAVE to be the only one to learn "lessons", he's also the only one who RECEIVES THE RIGHT to learn lessons.... at least the important ones.... Granted, Mabel gets some of them, like in "Boyz Crazy" or "Sock Opera", the latter feeling like a little bit of fan service in response to the criticism. Or even tiny, little implied/shared lessons, like in "The Legend of the Gobblewonker" in which she and Dipper ditched Stan, or "The Haunting of the Northwest Mansion", when she and Candy backstabbed Grenda. She didn't get rewarded for either and her decision is implied to have been the wrong one. But she didn't get any big growth. The WORST example is the "Mabelland"-episode.... This episode would have been perfect development for Mabel. Her issue was that she refused to grow up and was too focused on her own feelings of abandonment. Even though the show had occasionally implied that she does care about people. They could have made it about her realizing that "Mabelland" wasn't real and that in the real world.... people were suffering.... people like Stan, Candy, Grenda and everybody else whom she cared about. That it was up to her to go back and fight for them. That she shouldn't abandon THEM the way she didn't want to be abandoned herself. It would have solidified Mabel's presumed qualities as a caring person deep down, have given her some growth by displaying them in difficult circumstances and rounded up her arc by allowing her to embrace the most important aspect of maturing, of becoming an adult: realizing that the world isn't always about you.... This was supposed to be Mabel's episode, her big moment.... but they GAVE it to Dipper: it was him deciding not to stay with Ford that changed Mabel's mind, not her own growth. They could have given Dipper that decision in it's own part of the story, but instead, it was used to hijack Mabel's tale. It's kinda frustrating. She started off as such a delightfull character and I was like "protect her at all costs", but in the end I was like "will somebody just lecture that child?"....

If there's one worst thing she's done bad is the Rug Carpet episode where she was beyond her worst and didn't cared about Dipper's problems with her having sleepovers all the time and he was forced to find another place to sleep. Plus here's my question, if the love potion was supposed to have wore off on Tambry The Bland bitch and (ugh) Robbie the Emo Jackass himself, why didn't it wear off at the final act afterwards? Okay, I'm going to start with all your points: #5 The worst thing she did in Sock Opera wasn't laughing at Dipper turning into a sock puppet, no, the worst thing she did was that, after finding out that Dipper's life was at stake, she told him to wait until the show was over, and when Bill threatened to ruin her play, she willingly gave up Dipper's journal, his last hope to get his body back, to Bill, knowing this could cost Dipper's life. She litterally put her play above Dipper's life and only came back to her senses once Bill guilts her into it, which is messed up considering Bill is the litteral demon and villain of the show. #4 What she did in The Love God was messed up enough, and the Journal 3 didn't fix that in the slightest, because when she decided to not to fix the mistake she did with the potion, she was 100% sure that the effects were going to remain forever. She was 100% willingly to let them stay in that state forever and refusing to correct her mistake. She only learns that the potion is temporal AFTER she had made up her mind already. #3 While Mabel's initial sadness and shock is understandable, her reaction to Dipper taking the apprenticeship is not acceptable: she accuses Dipper of breaking promises and abandoning her, which is not true, since Dipper was willing to make it work by being in constant contact with her, heck, had they planned it well, Mabel could have stayed in Gravity Falls too, and it's even more hypocritical and unfair when we remember EVERYTHING Dipper has been sacrificing through the entire summer just to make her happy, like his time with Wendy, the gang, helping her with her crushes, getting fired from his pool job just to cover her up, we could go on and on about everything he does for her, while she is the one who ditches him constantly for her crushes of the week and being with her friends. It was time already for her to give back the favor and let him be happy. #2 I agree 100%, while she was actually tricked by Bill and she didn't know what the rift was, she knew Blendin had tried to kill her and Dipper more than once, and that the sphere belonged to Dipper, and was willingly giving away something that didn't belong to her, and trap the whole town in an endless time bubble forever against their will. That's not cool. #1 I agree 95% on this, what she did in Mabeland is the worst she has ever done: she KNOWS she's in Bill's trap and that she caused Weirdmaggedon (something confirmed in Lost Legends since she admits it to her other versions of herself), yet she doesn't even care, she's happy to stay there while her family, friends and the whole town are out there suffering while she's living happily and even replacing her own twin brother while he was risking his life trying to rescue her. Her brother could be dead because of her, and she replaces him with a mocking copy of him that insults Dipper's insecurities and throws back in his face all his sacrifices and unconditional love for her, saying he's not supportive enough. And then has the nerve to blame HIM for her being in Mabeland and being the reason she doesn't want to return to reallity, taking him to trial and threathing him with kicking him out back in the apocalypse that SHE SAW and helped to cause and replace him with Dippyfresh. She only snaps out of it after Dipper promises to give up the apprenticeship to stay with her. And no, her saying it's okay AFTER he promised her he was staying doesn't count, she knew very well he was going to say no cause he had no other option, he couldn't back up from his promise one minute after making it, very less when they were in the middle of the apocalyspe and he was risking Mabel throwing another fit or running away again. Mabel on the other hand guilt tripped him from the start, and forced him to choose between his dreams and his family in the middle of the fricking apocalypse, something that should have never happened. And there's more horrible stuff she did that is not mentioned, like how she almost got Dipper and Wendy killed in the bunker because she forced Dipper to confess against his will by locking him up in a closet with the shapeshifter in there, and she pointedly ignored both of their pleads to get out due to the monster being in there, or how she got him fired from his pool job and kicked him out of his room to sleep outside for her slumber parties and wrecked his part of the room. There's so many examples of this I could go on and on. And yes, while I did read the comic (an amazing one indeed) that doesn't fix Mabel's character in the slightest: yes, she admits she was selfish, but she doesn't acknowledge any of all the most terrible things she ever did and very less made up for it, so in the end, we only get a bit of self critizims and another generic apology to Dipper. The problem with Mabel is not even that she does these horrible things, but how she gets away with every single one of them without facing any consequences and even gets rewarded for them constantly. That's the issue with her and why she's the worst character of the series.

I mean, the writing and the narrative has clearly no problem in being harsh with Dipper, even when the kid is doing nothing wrong, but then gives Mabel a free pass to do as she pleases with no consequences and even getting rewarded sometimes. That's why I think it's more about based in the fact that Alex based Dipper on himself, therefore being easier for him to critize him and being harsh with him, than with Mabel, who is inspired by his twin sister, who he adores and probably didn't want to angatonize her. Nah, I don't think Ariel is a bad person, she seems cool and sweet with Alex for what we saw in many videos.

Alex admits that the reason he focuses so much on Dipper it's because he's inspired by himself, therefore he focuses on Dipper, who seems to have in his opinion, a wrong view of life, while Mabel has nothing to learn. Mocking him and blackmailing him over something SHE forced him to do that saved her crush, and in this episode she kicks him out of their shared room, which she proceeds to destroy alongside her friends, who she invited without Dipper's consent or even knowledge, makes Dipper sleep outside in the cold making him being attacked by a wolf and an owl, and when he tells her about it, she laughs in his face and proceeds to hit him with a stick for fun, and then has the nerve to ask for the new room.

I would like to add some things :3 5. By this time, the Pines twins had already fought a bunch of gnomes, a candy monster and a few talking golfballs. Of course she laughs at Sock-Dipper. So far, they had passed every adventure without ever really having bad consequences. Mabel didn't realized the seriousness of the situation. She's a twelve year old after all. To be honest, I would have laughed at Dipper too. 4. Mabel is a good-hearted and naive girl. She wanted to make Robbie happy at all costs. But her ways were not the best, I agree at that point. But in the end it worked out between Robbie and Tambry, i kinda ship it. They deserve happyness. 3. As Alex Hirsch had often said, Mabel and Dipper need each other. To let such a socially insecure child work with a slightly self-loving loner (with a lot of trauma), who would have put Dipper in many unnecessary dangerous situations, would not have been a good idea. Dipper needs a real childhood! Besides, I can understand Mabel. After being told the story of the two Stans, she had to watch the fights of Stan and Ford for days and was simply afraid of losing her brother the way Stan lost Ford. As you can see in the flashback, Dipper and Mabel were not popular kids. We don't even know if they have friends outside of Gravity Falls. Mabel would have to leave both her best friends and Dipper behind..(although I don't think the parents of the twins would have allowed that anyway) 2. Again, Mabel is twelve. She didn't know that the rift was dangerous, nor that Blendin was possessed. Bill manipulated her during a mental breakdown. First she finds out how horrible high school is going to be, and then she finds out that her twin wants to leave her behind, so she has to survive high school on her own. Without friends. Without support. She is terrified of growing up. Of course she agrees to spend a few more days in a town where she is respected and accepted by everyone for the first time in her life. And come on, we would all sell our souls for more Summer aka Gravity Falls content :P. 1. I think Mabel doesn't deserve to be hated. She was very close to Dipper and attached to him, just like Stan. She was upset of the idea that her brother won't be with her. It was especially bad since she was having a bad day. Dipper was the only person she could count on and of course if anyone was in Mabel's situation, they would be upset as well. I'm not going to deny the fact that she has made selfish choices, because she has. However she has learned from them and cares about people. In Sock Opera, Mabel was about to turn in the Journal to Bill and Bill states "Who would sacrifice everything they worked for just for their brother?". Mabel realizes that she is about to make a mistake and says "Dipper would" as she pulls Bipper into the cake. The cake falling ruins the play as well as her chances of getting with Gabe. This proves she has sacrificed for Dipper before. Mabel even apologizes to Dipper after Bill leaves his body for what she has done with her selfish acts in the episode. This isn't the only case where she faces her flaws, at the end of Weirdmageddon Part II, Mabel accepts the fact that Dipper might be leaving her and is okay with him taking Fords apprenticeship. Another thing is people are blaming her for the entire Weirdmageddon event. I disagree that it is her fault for the end of the world. She didn't know that the rift could cause the end of the world. Bill also possessed Blendin and tricked her into handing the rift, evening making it seem less important by saying "All I need is something small, so small your uncle won't even notice". Bill choose to approach Mabel when she was in a bad situation. He approached her as she was feeling anxious about the future, sad about Summer coming to it's close. Mabel should not be blamed for the entire event. So, is Mabel perfect? Of course not. She has made mistakes and does seem to sometimes learn from them but Mabel receives too much hate and when she makes a mistake, everyone points it out.

She doesn't deserve to be hated, but I can understand and agree why she's so critized and such a polarized character: no one doubts that Mabel is close to Dipper, the problem is that she's toxic and incredibly co-dependent on her brother so that she gets to do whatever she wants with zero consequences, and let's be honest, she treats him terribly by constantly insulting his insecurities and interests and crushes and forcing him to give up everything for her, and keeps asking for more and more. And while I can understand that Mabel had a bad day, that's no excuse for wanting to trap the entire town in a time bubble and then refuse to safe the world and force her twin to give up his entire life for her own happiness. That's the main problem: she never learns because either she straight out never faces consequences and gets away with her bad behaviour and even rewarded with what she wants, the little times she does seem to learn something, she quickly forgets it the next episode. In fact, if Mabel had actually progressed and learnt her lessons, Weirdmaggedon would have never taken place. And let's also remember that she has done plenty of terrible stuff without even her being in a bad situation, just wanting to do what she wanted or forcing her will onto others. In Sock Opera Mabel behaved terrible: she breaks her promise to help Dipper multiple times and guilts him into helping her with her play instead, when she had plenty of help already, then steals Dipper's journal without his consent KNOWING he wouldn't allow her for her play, and when Dipper is in another body in hysterics pleading for his life, she tells him to wait until the show is done, and then she's willingly giving up the journal, Dipper's last chance to survive, to Bill, in exchange for her play go well and get a date with a stranger. She only snaps out of it once Bill guilts her into it. And she's not sacrificing anything because she even states that she dodged a bullet once Gabe is proved to be a creep, and then she quickly forgets her lesson by going back to keep making Dipper do stuff for her against his will in following episodes like Nortwhest Mansion Mystery where she guilts him into ghostbusting Pacifica's house against his will just so she and her friends get to go to a party for free. Same with Weirdmaggedon: yes, she offers Dipper the apprenticeship...after she litterally refused to leave the bubble for days and threatened Dipper with kicking him out into the apocalypse and replace him with Dippyfresh and guilted him for her being the reason she was in her bubble, after she only accepted to come back to fix her mistake once Dipper gave up the apprenticeship and promised to Mabel to never leave her a minute ago. She knows Dipper won't change his mind after that because they both know Mabel is not going to accept another answer after the stunt she pulled. Even without Mabel knowing what the rift was and that Blendin was being possesed by Bill, she still knew that the rift was one of Ford's and Dipper's personal belongnings, it was in Dipper's bag that she had preppared for his "expedition to safe the world or whatever" as she said herself, yet doesn't hestihate to take it without permission and give it away to Blendin, the time traveler guy that tried to kill her for messing up with the time in the past, and is totally okay with trapping the entire town against their will as long as she gets to keep summer to last forever. All of what she's consciously doing in here is terrible enough, and she's completely okay in doing so. And it's not like this is the first time she does something equally horrible without her being in a bad situation, like when she nearly got Dipper and Wendy killed, drugged Robbie and Tambry, mind controlled Stan or forced him to tell the truth, nearly left Dipper to die, and etc, all in situations where she wasn't sad or affected at all and simply wanted to do what she pleased and impose her will onto others. True, she's not entirely to blame by the entire thing (Bill is the most to blame, and Ford and Stan had a part in it too, but all of them faced consequences for that), and that would have been forgivable if she had at least showed remorse or tried to fix things right, but she doesn't, she ditches her family and friends to die in the apocalypse while she has a blast and even replaces her brother, despite knowing what's happening outside, only accepting to come out to fix the mess she caused once Dipper gives up his dreams and future to stay with her forever and make her happy forever. Yes, Mabel made mistakes and that's okay, she's flawed and that's okay, what is not okay is that she constantly does horrible things but gets away with them scott free without facing consequences or learning anything and even getting rewarded for it while everybody else cleans up after her mess. That's what people critize her for. Obviously I'm not saying she deserves to be hated, but she DEFINATELY deserves all the critizim, she's easily the worst character of the series because of her lack of development, specially considering she is the co-protagonist. No one is asking her to be perfect, her flaws make her interesting and reallistic, what we expect her is to have character development like any hero or protagonist, and she's the only character of the entire series that lacks of it.

Mabel may have apologized in the comics but I felt it was rather half-baked. She brought massive chaotic destruction to Gravity Falls and put the whole universe in danger just so she could have summer last forever. Also, she didn’t seem to give it some thought of how the time-bubble would affect others: her brother, friends, even her own family. And , even though it was somewhat nice to see her realize the kind of person she was, a simple line of dialogue in the form of an apology is an abysmal to her actions.

Yeah, I hate that too, the way the narrative shrugged off her part in causing Weirdmaggedon, Mabel never admiting it and Bill never calling her out on it like he did in Sock Opera. In fact, what's worse to me, is that Mabel NEVER showed an inch of remorse over that or over anything she did during Weirdmaggedon: I mean, she knew all along what was happening outside of the bubble (she saw it herself through an opening when she tried to get Dipper kicked out), the first thing she does when Dipper comes to rescue her is rubbing in his face a replacement that is basically a middle finger to Dipper and all his sacrifices and unconditional love for her, then manipulate her friends and her brother by using their emotional weaknesses against them (seriously, using Soos' dad was a LOW blow), and then send Dipper on a trial where he was basically told that either he convinced her to come back with him by giving up the apprenticeship, or he would get replaced forever and kicked out into the apocalypse to left to die, and only accepts once she gets what she wants. She shows NO remorse over abandoning her family, replacing Dipper or how horrible she treated him, and very less about causing the end of the world, heck, she doesn't even acknowledge it and acts as happy as could be as if everything that happened had nothing to do with her or wasn't her own doing, nobody calls her out or gets mad at her over her behaviour in the bubble, and she gets everything she wants while shrugging off her mistakes and getting away scott free without consequences at her brother's expense. And what does the comic do to fix that? "Hahah, sorry I was selfish this summer". If that's what Alex calls redemption of her co-protagonists' missdeeds...eesh.

But Stan didn't do it on purpose, he didn't even touch it he hit the table. I feel like another factor in the Mabel almost destroying the world is that she was completely distraught. The thought of losing Dipper caused her to think irrationally and give in to Bill, and it was also Bill who took advantage of that distress to break the rift. Yes, the factor that she was distraught is no way deniable, however, she was totally okay with trapping the entire town against their will in a time bubble forever by giving away something that she knew it belonged to Ford and not her, to the person that tried to kill her, and later even after finding out she caused the end of the world....she couldn't have cared any less, for what she did, for her family, her friends and the entire town she sentenced. I think Mabel was wrong to stop Dipper from taking the apprenticeship, but you forgot to mention one key detail in Mabel's defense: Dipper leaving her would've been the biggest change in her life so far, considering they're twins. While the show claims Mabel has a fear of growing up, I'd argue her true fear is a fear of change. She's afraid to lose Gravity Falls, the friends she made, and her twin brother. Mabeland makes no sense in this context and I think that's why people hate it so much. She also shows remorse and has selfless moments. From the beginning of the series to the end. Just like Dipper she does something wrong for bad intentions (mostly), she ends up fixing the situation realizing the error of her ways that's facing the consequences. Okay this list is Bull. Mabel has done way worse Dipper did look funny and the love potion was hardly an issue. But she 5.) Got Dipper fired from his first job to help a merman she knew for 5 minutes where there were so many other alternatives. But Mabel always goes to the extreme. 4.) BUT THE FACT THAT SHE ALMOST GAVE UP THE MOST IMPORTANT THING DIPPER HAS TO THE UNIVERSE'S MOST POWERFUL BEING FOR A BOY SHE BARELY KNOWS IS INSANE!!! 1.) Replacing Dipper in the fantasy world and calling that Dipper supportive. She showed in that moment that she didn't want support, she wanted someone to boss around. Another thing I noticed is that when in stans mind, after dipper hears the out of context memory and tells Mabel that Stan said he wanted to get rid of him Mabel then goes on to invalidate his emotions by saying it didn’t matter what he heard and that they’ll lose the shack if they don’t hurry, this in a way is Mabel telling dipper that she cares more about the shack than her own brother’s feelings.

I think that Mabel is an amazing character, and that her and dipper are equal. Here’s why. First, shows needs imperfect characters. If Mabel has never done anything wrong it wouldn’t be realistic or relatable. She shouldn’t have run off to mabelland, but she was just a kid. The word was literally on the brink of falling apart, she was angry sad and needed to escape. Dipper might handle his emotions better, but she’s human, and she’s never been put in a situation like that ever, having to leave behind the only person who’s always been there for her. Second, dipper doesn’t just give up fords apprenticeship for Mabel’s happiness. He gives it up because HE realizes that HE wouldn’t be happy without her. Also, as bad as mabelland is, I think that what helped him realize that was being around all of Mabel’s weirdness, and of course seeing through the memories how much they’ve helped each other throughout their lives. Third, dipper was put in more situations that caused more sacrifices than Mabel, so we shouldn’t expect her to make these crazy sacrifices when she wasn’t required to like dipper was. But if she was she would most definitely choose dipper the way he choose her. I’m not saying Mabel never did anything wrong. But she learns from her mistakes throughout the series, making her an extremely well developed character. Fourth, she complements dipper so well, he could not get to where he is in the series without her. Mabel’s unique personality allows her to see the world in a special way. Dipper may be the brains, but she’s the perspective, helping dipper see things in a way he would’ve never thought to see him. And if you notice through the show, dipper laughs because of mabel. He smiles because of mabel. He is happiest when he’s with mabel, and THATS why he sacrifices so much for her. You even see dipper say in his conversation with Wendy in weirdmeggedon part one: “You’ve already defeated bill twice, why is it any diffrent now?” “Because back then I had Mabel.” it’s much easier to understand/forgive Mabel’s actions if you have a sibling you’re close too, like if my sister were to leave me for a year or more when I was 12/13 I would be just as terrified as Mabel. Another little reason why I love her: throughout the series, Mabel works so hard to just make everyone happy. Lots of people, including myself, who do this usually have emotional issues and will cover up their emotions with positivity and optimism. It’s just so hard for me to belive Mabel didn’t go through this as well, as it fits with her character extremely well. And wether that’s cannon or not, you really see her make all the characters laugh and smile. It could be the end of the world and she would be the one keeping everyone still relatively happy. “You’ve just gotta role with Mabel’s weirdness, dude. It’s what makes life worth living.” -Wendy But anyways this is just my silly little opinion. If you’ve read all of this, Thank you have a good day :))

I’ve never been a big fan of Mable. She was always making fun of Dipper and using him. Then I watched Sock Opera. I hated Mable at first because she didn’t help Dipper and didn’t even realize that her own brother was possessed. So when she finally did something for Dipper, I was screaming. I do like Mable more, but I still prefer Dipper.

She realized how wrong she was for ditching him even though she promised him that she would help him after the play. And that was the only time where she ditch him for a boy. She showed regret when she found the note and apologized to Dipper twice. She sacrificed her play to save him after Bill taunted her. Dipper was being impatient there. To me both of them were wrong in that episode. What really matters is that they both learnt. And don't shrug it off by saying "oh she only dodged a bullet, the sacrifice was not meaningful". Not meaningful? How is that not meaningful for saving her brother?
