The story of the Amory Wars is somewhat lost on me, but this particular chapter I understand completely. The Afterman is one of the most real albums I've ever heard. I read the story behind the album, and the meanings of the songs, and honestly, was really angered that Claudio had the audacity to remind me that I had emotions and feelings.

I think as the albums progressed, the story got more diverse and had more depth created, plus Claudio became a better writer. The early albums were so hard to follow storyline wise, you just HAVE to read the comics to get any glimpse of story. Then he wrote a book for The Black Rainbow and I think that pushed him really hard and he's totally grown since. Im really excited to see how the story develops with the new album, especially since his wife has helped him write it too.

To this day it still angers me that a video for this song wasnt made. Ive always had such amazing visions of this song and translating it into a movie like music video depicting the inside of the car as it spins out of control, glass shattering , their bodies just suspended inside this metal carcass of a vehicle, all of it just entangled in the characters memories of how life was before this took place........ this song is truly a masterpiece Coheed and cambria is forever a source of inspiration and vision it is a band that I will take to my grave , forever entangled in my heart and mind. Thank you Claudio.

In floods of tears every time at that middle part with the doctor entering. Describing their injuries in detail and “THIS life I can save” is basically Sirius overhearing the doctor tell the nurse that he can’t do anything to save his wife’s life but he can save Sirius, who would then have to live with the guilt that the accident was his fault but he made it out alive.

"Baby, please remember the better me." Sirius left his wife to pursue the keywork. He makes it out after almost dying. While you may not have, the fact remains that many listeners have found Coheed's work to be emotionally engaging. If you disagree, that's fine. My request is that you do not dedicate your time to criticizing what you detest, and instead, surround yourself with what you enjoy. Go listen to Camel, comment there, discuss your favorite songs with others that share your interest, rather then force your opinions on those who so obviously disagree.

So what tuning does Claudio use in this song? I read somewhere it was drop A but that's a six or seven string tuning. He uses an 8 string for the song. So either it is drop A and the 8th string is obsolete or its an 8 string tuning. Does anyone know? Thanks
@TKilgannon9 жыл бұрын
I believe it's played on a baritone guitar, so probably whatever the standard tuning for a baritone would be my guess
@usaflagraybans8 жыл бұрын
He uses a Stephen Carpenter 8 string for this song, but it's tuned A-E-A-D-F#-B for the record and he uses an 8 string live. In an interview he mentioned that he wrote it on an 8 string, so it may be just Standard 8 with the low B tuned down to A and the F# just being used for show. I play it on my seven string all the time.

I love the amory wars and the afterman albums aren't technically part of the amory wars since it takes place before and has no similar characters from the amory wars and doesn't effect the series that much (although it does I think, keep in mind I have only read bits and pieces of the year of the black rainbow and the second stage turbine blade) BUT the afterman albums are my favourite cohere albums and I love the story for them more than than the actual events of the amory wars (coheed and Cambria kilgannon and Claudio kilgannon and other side characters etc) but yeah I'm rambling but I'm sorry I love the story for the afterman albums SO fucking much

@meatflesh Have you ever heard of the Amory Wars? It's unfair to say this has no storyline. I'm sure you didn't care enough to actually see. This actually has a storyline (maybe hard to see) about a scientist who was back for more than a year in space. He returns to find his wife with another man. He is driving his wife (Meri) home from his award ceremony when they collide with a 10 ton truck. Sirius (the main character of the song) took his thoughts off the road when Meri says she is pregnant with the other man's child.

That would be pointless if Sirius actually was dead, which everyone thought. Life went on while Sirius was trapped in the Keywork. In the case of Odysseus, he was never declared dead. This case has nothing to do with faith at any rate. You cannot a normal person sit down and wait for, as far as anyone's concerned, a dead man. Besides, Meri underwent at least 6 months of depression. (That ain't healthy.) Give her some credit.
