@silentlyquiet87927 ай бұрын
Got a subbed after that drop. It's pretty relatable in my case. Experienced my first 3 drops recently. Been riding for about a year now. Started with a Honda CG125. When i first got it it already felt heavy for me but thankfully i never dropped it once for the whole year that i was using it. Recently I got myself a used 200cc sportbike to practice on as i wanna get myself a ZX4RR or ZX6R some time down the line. Upon testing it I immediately felt the weight difference (i understand that most folks would probably think that a 167kg bike is light but please understand i started with something that weighs 67kg less and that I'm just a 5'3 person who's not exactly built like a brick). First week was fine and all. The first time i dropped was on the the 2nd week of having it. Was getting out of the drive way and adjusting my right side mirror while on stop. Tried to lean a bit to reach it but my bag slid to my side and yanked me, tipping the bike in the process. Thankfully i got sliders installed so that saved the bike. That moment stuck with me for a while but i got over it. 2nd time was while on stop and exiting the suburb gate. Pulled over to watch out for oncoming traffic but didn't notice the uneven part of the pavement and ended up tipping over as a result. Was lucky enough that the slider saved the bike again. 3rd one happened just the other night. This one actually was an accident. Was turning at an intersection. Carefully even (about 20 kph) when one trike decided to counterflow and get on the lane i was turning to to avoid traffic. Guy actually sped towards my direction as i was turning. Managed to dodge the guy but in turn lost my balance. Suffice to say that the bike ended up getting dropped again. Sliders saved it again but this time not fully as now i have a bent gear shifter that i still need to fix as it's making it impossible for me to ride the bike past 1st gear. It has been quite the learning experience thus far but I'm working on getting better. Ngl i expected these drops to happen hence why i got a used 200cc sportbike to practice on. Would rather drop this bike now than go drop that zx4rr or zx6r in the future. With that said, cheers fam. Here's to both of us becoming better riders. Will look forward to more of your content!

Looks up how to properly pick up the bike. You might be flustered after dropping so thinking straight sometimes isn't an option. You could easily hurt your back from to deadlift it back up. There's a safer way where you face away from the bike and lift it up kind of like you're squatting with your legs. Just remember to drop your kickstand down before you do that lol. Also get some crash protection that's usually the first mod I get on my bike if its not already installed. Keep up the practice, I still do drills every weekend cause its a skill you keep having to chase.

No worries! You’re doing fine! It’s a good lesson because A you didn’t get hurt, B the bike is fine C it’s a lesson in situation awareness. That car popped into your view and that sort of derailed you from completing the turn. With time comes experience and you would have and will know to stand the bike up to perpendicular and follow natural protocol to automatically pull in the clutch and brake at the same time. It will be second nature soon👍

When you start running the cones, keep your eyes on the last cone, as you get closer to it keep your eyes out the same distance you had them. In this configuration, if you don't hit the first cone, you will never hit any of them and you can speed up to like 8 or 10 mph. Keep throttle steady and do nothing with the brakes. When you get used to that, you want to add a significant amount of countersteering around the cones. The bike should sway heavily back and forth, but don't do that until you have corrected your vision to only using your peripheral vision. In the beginning, your vision is more important than not hitting the cones.

Bro don't sweat the fall, most important thing is you don't have a hefty repair bill. Use the front break if you have some speed, at low speed you really want to mainly use the rear and engine brake unless you're going perfectly straight (like to avoid a rear end).

Feel happy for you, this reminds me my first ride, that was some ride :). Man you are doing good, it's cool that you choose to practice your skill in safe environment, don't rush to much and give you space for an error, your skills will grow. If you don;t mind a few pieces of advice for you: - don't place cones too close, for you it's important to develop feeling of the turn and get feedback when the bike "wishes" to lean/turn, and understand how to initiate the turn. - looks like you upper body a little bit to stiff, so you hold or weight handlebars a little bit to much and it's influence you balance and handling, try to weight a little bit pegs or hold the bike by legs more it usually helps. - you should have some "free space" aka lose arms, to do handling easily, often lower you elbows and moving a little bit upfront can help. You can try may be it helps you, these things I noticed from my own experience may be it will be helpful. Anyway, waiting for new riding videos.

You're doing fine man just keep it slow and smooth and I promise it'll come. Just make sure you're confident with the basics before taking it out on the road. I dropped my bike twice in the first couple weeks, first time was exactly like your's a car startled me but the second time I get hit in the helmet with a sprinkler and dropped it, imagine how funny that was. Just keep practicing, make sure you keep it smooth, and build that confidence. Little trick to keep from stalling too is you can give it a tiny TINY bit of throttle while the clutch is still depressed so that when you let it out you'll alteady have some power going to it but be careful to not give too much throttle and let the clutch out SLOWLY until you get used to that friction zone. It'll be second nature before too long and you won't even think about it. I've got a 2023 Z400 myself byw ao i pretty much know how your bike feels. Keep up the good work bro and keep two down.

I actually fell of a nc750 because I was learning to counter steer and whiskey throttled it a bit then slammed on the front brake. Had my instructor as a backpack and he fell too. (a week later the dude got into a crash with another student and screwed up his leg for the year...) Happens to everyone, you are doing great. Next time... Press the rear brake and then the clutch. You are leaning YOU first, then pulling the bike over. That is pretty normal to do at speed, when you have time to set up the turn, an the speed to need it. When riding slow in tight maneuvers, especially so slow your slipping the clutch, its not that efficient. Its a two step process so it takes time. When riding slow, its more efficient to push the bike down in to the turn while you stay vertical or even lean the other way. When you and the bike lean together, you are pivoting both the mass of the bike and you, around your body, the tires having to do all of the work to move around you. If only the bike leans, only the mass of the bike is pivoting around its self. The tires are still pulling the bottom of the bike away from the turn to create the lean, but you pushing the bike down, using your mass to push the top of the bike in to the turn as well. So the lean happens faster, easier an you turn sharper. An the weight is up over the tires more so you are less likely to fall over, or wash out. Think of it like the tango. In the cones, it should feal like the bike is dancing under you. The bike is your dance partner an you are leading her. Your arms go left, your hips go left an your head, upper body an legs lag behind. Then your switch. Your arms an hips go right an your head upper body an legs lag behind. Swerving is also done this way even at speed. Leave the leaning with the bike for faster speed turns you have lots of time to set up for each one. An you only lean more than the bike when taking a corner so fast, you cant make it otherwise.

Hello dude. First of all thanks a lot for sharing your first ride and your developing process. I live in Brazil and I am going to get a Kawasaki ninja 500cc too. This is will be my first bike and I am feeling very excited for it. However I am also feeling the fear of falling. Do you have any hints to other beginner riders?

Looked like a good ole fashion panic front brake :) I did that the first day I got my bike LOL we've all been there. Glad you and the bike are ok! Definitely a good lesson on checking your mirrors, but its so easy to forget when you're thinking of so many things at once! Great job getting back on the bike and practicing.

Yeah you have to straighten the bars when coming to a stop like that or else the bike will fall extremely fast. Glad your bike is fine.
@moto.nyc7187 ай бұрын
Yep! Im definitely keeping that in mind for now on haha
@thecrow34614 ай бұрын
Ah bummer that you dropped it but luckily the bike has sliders. Try keeping the clutch slipping a bit and applying the rear brake when doing these slow manouvres, it will help with throttle control and stability. Also be a bit more smooth when going from side to side around the cones. Slow speed on a motorcycle will always be a bit akward but you will get the hang of it, just keep practicing!

I specifically chose that spot cuz it was in the back of the buildings where there’s no traffic. That way I can focus on my skills, but cars still manage to find motorists 🥲…now I’m hyper aware of my surroundings

in slow speeds, lightly drag rear brake, don't touch the front, give bike just touch of gas....

Top tip if you drop your bike on that right side. Flick out the kick stand like you did, and then facing away from the bike put your back against it, lean down, get a hold of it on some anchor points and then tippy toe it back up slowly by pushing back on it. It is easier to lift it and you're less likely to do your back damage by trying to "pull" it up facing it. I know this because the instructor showed me after I dropped the bike the exact same way.

Kind of a dick move by the car just bombing through.. he literally sees you zig zagging with the cones in the middle and then trying to turn around and just drives right through. I guess he wouldn't know you're doing a U-turn but still, if that was me I would assume it's a beginner rider and at least make sure he sees me.
