I love your work and am a big fan, and am in the early stages of creating portfolio and checking out any bbp and sterilization courses. For sterile environments, aren't dogs and cats not allowed in shops? Yours seems like a sweetie. :) I have seen also many older dusty shops(Yours is gorgeous, and I know you research and deliver well)... can you do a video about environmental factors, please?

For safety Ted isn’t allowed in the part of the shop where tattooing takes place. He has his own area where he hangs out.

3 things I would like to add to this as, 1. Prep for the tattoo. I always like to shave the area that is getting tattooed before going. I find most artists appreciate that. 2. If you have a personal relationship with your artist, send a text to see if the artist wants a smoothie or something for them. Sometimes they can't leave the shop for a while so it's a nice gesture. 3. Don't give the amount that they say the tattoo costs, plan for giving a tip for every session (or one big one for multiple sessions). I never knew just how normal tipping was until I had a couple tattoos. I probably came off rude or something. So tip your artists! They are taking care of you so return the favor.

James Danowski so..... I guess your ona shit hourly wage as well maybe just a bit more than the people YOU TIP! Have you ever been a contractor? I’m guessing NOT!!!!. Do you understand and I mean understand that the artist you are paying your incredible $100 per hour don’t have any overhead expenses? Like paying a percentage to the studio they work at. Like paying taxes. Like paying for the gloves they use to wipe the shit fucktard blood off your body to give you a clean piece of art. Like the ink that gives you your piece of art. These ppl may only walk away with with less than 25% of your precious $100 per hour, so get off the meth or whatever you are on and maybe just maybe realise that that may not be above the ppl you think are on shit wages dickhead
@lilredwulfe6 жыл бұрын
James Danowski the reason it's "proper" to tip is due to the artist usually has to pay a fee of sorts to tattoo in the shop (unless they own it). So for every day they are booked, they might be giving their commission of work upwards to 40% to their fellow shop worker. You might be seeing the end total, but they're making less than you think. Just food for thought.

Love these tips. Aside from bringing snacks for throughout the session I also recommend having a meal a few hours to an hour before your actual appointment, and preferably something that levels your blood sugar so you don't experience a drop mid-tattoo and possibly pass out. Its always worrisome when someone says they haven't eaten and then gets light-headed mid-tattoo. I also recommend bringing some headphones and listening to a podcast or music throughout the session, especially for one that's a bit long. Some artists are very talkative, and some tend to go quiet when they start tattooing. Don't take offense to it- the quietness is usually due to them concentrating on the task of tattooing, and not that they just don't want to talk to you. Bringing some headphones and music will help pass the time and keep the awkward silence to a minimum. You'll be thankful to have something distract you from the pain, and your artist will feel less pressured to ask you "how you doing there?" fifty times just to break the silence, lol.

You get cold because your body goes through a form of shock because you're stabbing your skin with tiny needles so it's trauma so your body reacts accordingly. So yeah, blankets and a position of comfort and afterwards lots of water and some sleep. :)

I've never even considered the no moisturising before, but it makes so much sense! My tip would be to bring a distraction. I download a show, film or podcast beforehand and then just plug myself in.

Great video. I have a quick question. I am in the process of losing weight right now (have lost 30 pounds since December!!!!). I would say I have another 30 pounds that I am looking to lose to get to my goal weight. My question is should I hold off on the tattoo until I get to my goal weight? It is going to be a rose on my thigh, slightly above my knee. I am just worried that my tattoo will get deformed or look weird or something as I continue to drop the pounds. Thanks, Brad.

Hello! I actually used numbing cream on my most recent tattoo on my collarbones done last Saturday. The tattooist recommended it, it really did make a huge difference from when I had my chest tattooed without numbing cream. The whole two hours was excruciatingly painful, I had to take several breaks in between. My collarbones being tattooed was an absolute breeze. With minimal pain. But like you said everyone's skin is different.

I used both and Hush was MUCH better. It took the pain level down across whole tattoo - I felt it but only about 30% and healed brilliantly. Dr Numb totally numbed some areas but not others, and healing was not right, really weird, had many tattoos but none as weird as that. Would not use again.

I heard There's this stuff called hush here in the U.S. that works well. The trick is that you have to put it on for at least 4 hours and put seran wrap over it. Then let it air dry for a few hours before the tattoo. It's legal in Oklahoma i think but not advised in texas for that purpose although still legal to purchase

Also as for the food part, it’s good to have dining like chocolate or biscuits or something else that is a low GI food to snack on as it will keep your blood sugars at a stable number and you won’t crash as easily however if they do crash and you start to get shaky and weak you would need some high GI foods to get them up quick and then low GI again to maintain it, low GI foods like chocolate don’t work to bring your blood sugars up fast enough to work (Never had tattoos but I deal with hypoglycaemia a lot and I know from bad past experiences that chocolate does not work, and stuff like jelly beans, soft drinks or juice work best)

9. Shave the area you are getting your tattoo on by yourself. If you don't, the artist will just go at your skin dry with a razor, this is a problem because it causes mild to extreme irritation if you have sensitive skin, so shaving at home with soap or shaving cream will make the overall experience much more comfortable.
@bradpalmer84734 жыл бұрын
One you missed that's not essential, but does make things easier, is: Shave the area you're getting tattooed before you get there. I always do this, but mostly because I hate the dry razor technique my artists uses! lol.

A good idea for clothing to wear for ladies: black lace spaghetti strap tank top with built in bra(under warm shirt in cold weather) and a full skirt with it's own second layer/built in slip. This way it's plenty easy to access the areas needed while giving much needed modesty elsewhere. Always black and no ruined clothes. Another idea is a button up shirt with a back hook style bra if you're getting a back piece done. Simply unhook bra after putting on the shirt backwards to keep yourself decent.
