I like how you subconsciously start building some kind of narrative around your rolls. For example, almost at the end of the video, your barbarian gets hit by one of the skeletons and then fails his attempt at attacking immediately after that. You connected these two instances and created a natural explanation for why this has happened: the barbarian suffered a blow and therefore this affected his ability to fight, that is why he missed on his attack. It is kind of fascinating to see how this kind of simple dice game evoke creativity in the player.

Rooms can be rotated and/or flipped to fit your map. If the room is not useful, switch the 2d6 numbers you rolled and try the alternative room.

Thanks for this playthrough. This will be my first time to play a game like this, and I'm trying to learn the terminology. The rules say that you can't use a shield when fleeing from combat. Is that different from withdrawing before the combat starts? Never mind, I started playing when I got to page 30. I just found my own answer

Q1. Minions do not have hp? Would not be reasonable to assume a level 3 minion has 3 hp? Q2. Arent skeletal rats undead? Why would they fail a morale check? Q3. A 1 on an attack isnt an automatic miss?.

Another great video! Dear Gray Board Gamer, if you diminish a room because there is not enough space, is stays a room. ;) Page 41. :) 10:35 not very important but I think you have the right to put the room like you want (mirror like for example), it could be important if in your example there was a door to the "south" you could then put it to the "north". Am I correct ? However since there are no exit it does not matter.
@GrayBoardGamer

I forgot about the rule on page 41, thank you for reminding me. I will bring that up in my next filming session.
@GrayBoardGamer
@GrayBoardGamer 6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if the rules intended "mirroring" a room. "Rotating Rooms" on page 41 reads: "feel free to rotate it in any direction and/or stretch a corridor up to 1 or 2 squares, so it is easier to connect it with the previous room or corridor." That being said I feel that if you are consistent throughout your dungeon creation, it is ok to "mirror." Also, I think it would be ok to shrink a corridor by 1 or 2 squares even though it's not stated in the rules. What are your thoughts on this?
@olivierprevot8082
@olivierprevot8082 6 жыл бұрын
I think both ideas would make for a "better" dungeon, in the sense that you could have more rooms. However it has to be tested so that the game does not become much longer. Maybe as a last resort if the dungeon is too quickly blocked ? Like there must be at least 6 or 7 rooms ? I have not yet played. I bought the game because of your videos! ^^
@WayneLunsford
@WayneLunsford 6 жыл бұрын
I like consistency, as well. So, I usually will stretch and/or shrink up to 2 squares, if needed. I will rotate, but never mirror. That said, as long as you are consistent and it increases your fun, I say go for it!

@29:10 isn’t a 1 always a critical miss, no matter how many +x you get? Or is that Rule only used for defense?
@GrayBoardGamer
@GrayBoardGamer 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, a 1 is always a miss when attacking and defending. In my copy of the book it is only mentioned for attacks on the rules summary page at the back of the book, and I didn't read this section until someone pointed out my error.

My understanding was that the process is to roll d6 on the boss monster table and then roll d6 to determine whether that is the final boss. It looked like you rolled d6 for the boss monster table and used that same result to determine whether it was the final boss. Is my understanding mistaken or was this an error on your part? Thanks very much for these videos!
@GrayBoardGamer
@GrayBoardGamer 6 жыл бұрын
You are correct! I realize now that the roll I did for the boss was missed in my edit. I rolled a six twice, once on the chart and once for the final boss roll but, somehow the clip didn't render in the final cut. I will mention it in the next boss encounter and ensure it makes it into the edit. Sorry for the omission.
@nekocam
@nekocam 6 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Thanks for the confirmation and clarification :)
@rokrjohnson
@rokrjohnson 4 жыл бұрын
This got me confused too whilst I watched it. So to clarify if you rolled 11 you would roll a d6 to see what boss it actually is then further roll of a 6+ (or 5 and a weird or boss encounter etc) automatically dictates that it’s the final boss. Correct?

When you fought the dragon, it only attacked once. Shouldn´t it attack you twice as stated in the boss table? So roll if it breathes fire or bites two characters and then roll again to see if the second attack is a fire breath or a biting attack on two charcters? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Old_Paladin. (Glad to see that you’re still Dungeon Delving & in the fight, despite getting old… 😉) Just a few posts up the page, “Anzelak” asked the same question & was provided with a weblink to the store… If you live in the U.K. there’s a link FROM that store to the U.K. distributor (who seems to have much cheaper prices for the dice!). Hope that helps, if you didn’t find the answer already. ~ LOUIS C.

I see that now :-( unfortunately I never looked at the tables at the back (on page 83 and beyond) because I thought they were just a compilation of the tables from the previous pages. 22:00 when you level up health should be reset.
@GrayBoardGamer
@GrayBoardGamer 6 жыл бұрын
Health doesn't reset when you level up. When you level up, you add one life to your current total and max. The example from page 71 of the rulebook reads: "So a character who had 5 life points, and was wounded down to 3, who levels up, now has 4 life, and if healed, can heal up to 6 points (his original 5, plus one from the new level)."
