Wow, that really did read/play like a bunch of grimm's fairy tales all mashed together. Which, honestly, while currently in the process of reading vol. 1 of Grimm's Fairy Tales, I can say is like most of the stories in general. They all share so many freaking bits. Every princess/daughter/first girl the main character has ever seen happens to be so frighteningly beautiful that even the sun weeps in pleasure of being able to shine down upon her. She or her father will make a bad deal or she'll simply be kidnapped and make an impulsive decision that leads to someone dying and/or her getting everything she could want. That or she'll need to not speak or emote for 7 years in order to return her brothers to human form. Think I've read that particular story like 4 times so far in different variations. Also quite a few main characters are idiots in the classic sense and happen to accomplish more through misunderstandings and luck than most do through decades of purpose and practice. Those are the best stories.
