I had a pet rat when I was about 13. His name was Skeeter and he was absolutely adorable. He was smart, loved being held, and never bit anyone. BUT I also had a dwarf hamster that was a mean SOB and bit me every single time I fed him, cleaned his cage, or bravely attempted to hold him.

Yeah, I feel like Gray had a pet hamster and is not correctly remembering. Pets have actually been selectively bred for over 100 years for traits to make them tame and sweet pets. I've never heard of a domesticated pet rat biting anyone, unless it was by accident like trying to grab food out of someone's hands.

That's kind of what this already is. A group of unwilling participants. A deadly challenge for a great prize. Grey lording over them for his own amusement. Only one winner. Everyone else dies. Pretty much the same thing except the contestants aren't actively trying to kill each other. They just see who survives the longest.
