This video goes over a lot. I'm not sure it conveys everything correctly. Make sure to ask questions if you don't understand things.

Superb, The bit re G1F500 is what I have never seen on any other info and has had me beat trying get a PWM signal on a 'scope from the drive pin which is Z- OR Z+ on the Protoneer GRBL Arduino Shield, as these two signals are connected to the same pin D11on the shield PCB, just some info for anyone else having issues, as some people refer to them individually, but either will do. Many Thks.

Hi. You need to focus the laser by turning the knurled knob at its tip end until the beams point is round.

Hello, I need your help! I have my own CNC Machine, the controller is the same as you use, Arduino Uno + CNC Shield with A4988 Stepper motor drivers! I used it as a pen plotter before! But now I need to convert it to a laser cutter, I already bought a 2.5W, 12V laser module. I saw your video, The thing I need to know is, how should I connect the PWM pin on the module to the CNC Shield? What is the diagram? Please help me!

Dear Anthony, thank you for the very informative series of videos. I think I am missing something. I could not see the details of the 3 pin (Yellow, Black, Red) laser connection to the CNC shield. Do you mind mentioning the connection? I am sure black goes to ground. But I am not sure about Yellow and Red. Is it Yellow or Red connected to Z Limit? In that case, where the other one addresses or is it just unplugged?

Is it possible you can make a tutorial on this based on the ender-3 motherboard such as the 4.2.7 board? I'm trying to figure out how I can modulate an Aliexpress laser module which is low powered and will power it at 25mW to make PCBs using photo-lithography process.
@mbijjk2 жыл бұрын
So question for you. You are giving the laser a PWM Signal could you power a servo from this instead of a laser if you set the max at 175. I am using this right now it works great love the work. The reason is I am making a pen plotter and need to use a servo to move it up and down the laser would be set when I load the program 10 mim and max 175.
@brakthehun2 жыл бұрын
Yes!! There are GRBL releases that use servos instead of lasers. Also,, FluidNC supports servos very well.
@mbijjk2 жыл бұрын
@@brakthehun thanks for the replay tried so of the programs but they gave me Errors in Inkscape. So what I ended up doing is to write a small program for a NANO to control the servo. The NANO keeps checking the laser pin for high or low then moves servo had to set laser out to 1000 but it works. I will see how much of a delay there will be it goes high till pen goes down. But looks good so far. I did enjoy all you videos on laser grbl so far. Thanks again.

Thanks for explanation. My question is : Since I have a 10W laser, do I need to buy an additional one TTL driver board? Can I control it with an Arduino Shield instead? I mean engraving or light cutting.
@brakthehun3 жыл бұрын
You do need a ttl driver for the laser. Most lasers come with a ttl board or have them built in.

Hello Anthony thank you for these detailed videos i am so happy to finally find someone explaining to dumb person like me. I have one question. I have 24v dc 5W laser head creality laser can i use that laser on this shield i feel like your laser is same capacity too. Best videos i found by far
@brakthehun2 жыл бұрын
Yup!! The 5v data signal of the Arduino will still trigger that laser. The shield can run off 24v just fine.

Where exactly are you hooking up the 12 volt power for the laser... the video isn't clear enough to see. I got the z limit and it is functioning fine from 0-5v for the PWM depending on S level... but I fail to see where the 12V is coming from exactly, can you explain?

Hello. Thanks for the video it really has helped me out a lot. I was wondering if there is a way to do the same with 4-wire laser modules that have a fourth wire for temperature control, do you know if the CNC shield support that functionality?

Is it possible to alter the code toget the pins back to the way there were for Z end stop? I can't find .9 version. Not so sure I can figure out the code either.

I may have figured out a solution by copying V.9 hex file. Saving in note pad as a .hex and uploading thru laser GRBL. Trying out tomorrow.
