Abby and Jon watch Grease for the first time...well, for her anyway. We sing, dance, and fan-cast Abby's friends for when they do a stage production!
The ending is controversial in our opinion. What do you think?

This film is more about how a boy also changes for a girl he loves. And the same with a girl for a boy. In a bit of the clichéd teenage romance of the 1950s in this rockybilly musical. Personally, I think the ending of the film grows on me every time I watch it. It has such a katcy happy ending

The Sandra-Dee lyrics she sings include “so scared, and unsure” so I think her evolution is about her gaining more confidence and demanding more for herself. The dressing up at the end is for fun. It’s not that deep! LOL Fun reaction though.

I know, I think this is strange. The dude said he was homeschooled and my guess is she probably was not into sport so they might not know what it means to letter in a sport and how hard it is and how much work it would take. It almost looks like they did not want to like Danny so they made up their own story about him instead of following the one that was on the screen.

In the 50's those guys with the slick hair were called beatnecks or "greasers" hence the name of the movie. They were the rebels of their day like the hippies of the 60's

Iconic movie of all time and the actors Olivia and John were AWSOME. I also give credit to the other actors as well and the songs will always be memorable! I must’ve watched this movie hundreds of times since it first came out, I’m 54 and I’d still watch it today… unfortunately we lost our loved one Olivia aka sandy recently and it’s been a terrible loss to those of us who were fans, my condolences to her friends and family and to John travolta aka Danny who played her better half in the movie. There friendship lasted so many years after this movie and u could still see that love of friendship whenever they saw eachother so I know right now he’s sad losing a good friend like her. But we will ALWAYS have GREASE and remember her and the songs she sang and also in the movie Xanadu. Rest In Peace cause heaven just got another angel. 🙏🏼

I think the implication was that she wasn't happy, and therefore wanted to be like the Pink Ladies instead of the stuffy 50s idea. In the 70s, they were just coming off the high of sixties "liberated" sex, and it was still popular to assume that shedding those old restrictions was liberating and free and authentic, as opposed to what Sandy had been modeling through the movie, which was the "old" way. (I wouldn't read too much into him shedding the sweater. He did tell his buddies that he'd lettered in track, meaning that he'd gotten that self-discipline. Shedding the sweater was just supposed to mean that he was hot.)

The ending is not entirely unproblematic, I think most would agree. Then again I seem to remember that critics at the time of release also noted as much, so I don’t think it was ideal by 1978 standards either. But, it is about the 50s… Also, it is about teenagers, and the peer pressure they’re living with - and succumbing to - however we adults feel about it. But sure, I do think that the ”Grease Live” production from 2016 tackled it better: They managed to flesh it out a bit so it was more about Sandy gaining the courage to become who she herself wanted to be, and less about appeasing some guy. (Their Sandy was from Utah and had very strict parents). Overall I think they improved on the plot and filled out a few confusing holes.

Here are some of my recommendations: The Love Bug movies; the Pink Panther movies, "That Darn Cat" (the original 1965 version, not the 1997 version), and "Space Camp" (1986). Another good choice: episodes from the original "McGuyver" TV show.

I have viewed this movie through the lens of satire for decades. Though this film clearly shows some 70s era nostalgia for the 50s there's a lot that for me rings like it is critical of the things that might bother me otherwise. If course that's just my reading.

Amazing reaction my friends Joe and Abby!!....In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just It was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coach, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 and 5 years have passed since then, but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, and in order to help your channel grow exponentially in the coming days, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you..It is a more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHW7ZHmeot6Bl8U
