Its not just the movie but also the soundtrack. 40 years later people still hear the music and buy the movie. It is a cultural icon. I love it more than any other musical including the west side story and the sound of music.

I remember going to the movies the summer of 1978 and returning every week to feel the magic and filling my soul with the wonderful songs...im now a 52 year old man and grease remains one of my most treasured movies of all time

The emotial outpour over her passing just goes to show the impact that this beautiful women made on the world all over. Grease, what a great piece of Americana...we have family home movies, I was 8, all dancing to grease lightning and other songs from the ageless great soundtrack. A showpiece of how movies can be great. It was entertaining, wholesome for the entire family, and no need of excessive violence, gore, foul language, political messaging. So sad that the current generation will not experience what a cultural icon Grease was back in 1978, but at least the movie, and the soundtrack, will live on... long after we depart this mortal coil. Olivia RIP.
