I like the fact. You're doing these jobs without a huge shop full of expensive tools. Most everything ive seen you do any enthusiast would most likely have these tools already. And if you don't can be had for not much money.

Thanks for this video, literally doing the same setup on my 65. I did a Scott’s Hot Rods full front suspension so I am fighting the angles a bit on my steering swap. After this video, I ordered the old eBay steering column after a measurement and the firewall ball and socket and they are working great.

Question, my column and ball and socket are set. I’m trying to figure out the shifter and spring, any tips? Mine seems to be hitting inside before I am able to get in it the right position.

@@419fl Is it your shift indicator making contact? Also, the shifter bracket on the bottom of the column is crucial to be adjusted properly.

@@GreaseMonkeyTV thanks for the response! I have the column completely installed on a Forever Sharp column bracket. I am waiting on my new wheel to show up so I can pin it down for good. I used the ball and socket on the firewall and after swapping to rack and pinion steering, a 351W swap with headers in the way and the shifter linkage I had to pause. I think I am going to build the exhaust and steering shaft linkage before tackling the shift linkage. I plan to remove and replace the stock I-beam cross member since the I-beam eyelets hang so low now. That will change my spacing for the linkage.

What length column did you go with 28 or 30"? You're about the same height as me. The description for the video has 28" but you reference a 30" in your video. Also, do you know if the manual shift column would work if I had a floor shifter instead of a column shifter?
@GreaseMonkeyTV Жыл бұрын
Sorry about that. I checked and it was a 30”. No reason any 30” wouldn’t work. Make sure it’s a tilt though.

Any chance you could do a detail video on how to do the intermediate shaft to the 1 inch DD? I see you use the grinder but I'm not really sure what to cut. Thanks

I know this is a long shot, but forever sharpe couldnt tell me, do you remember the hole diameter for the steering column ball and socket fitting? I think it should be 2 and 7/8 inches but want to make sure before I drill it

Would you happen to have the part number for that Steering Column firewall swivel that you had to sand?

I hear you. My son just recovered from a 4 1/2" grinder mishap where he severed his tendon on his other hand when you grinder bound and jumped. Gave me a new respect for power tools. Things happen so quickly.
