Very informative, Mike. I'm very far away from a column but it's been something I've been thinking about a lot. You answered all my questions. Next big one I can't wait to see is pedals. I'm one of those guys that's super picky with seat and pedal position. Can't wait to see how you tackle that.

Same! Its so important to get right. Could be the coolest car in the world, but if its not enjoyable to drive, it may as well be the worst car in the world.

Looks great 👍 I bought a 15 inch mahogany steering wheel for mine. I love the way you are doing your truck. Awesome to watch it all come together. Glad you are OK with the weather you have.

Thank you - yeah it was unprecedented what happened here. 15” would be good, or that 2.5” column drop would work too

Summit trip for your birthday! Man after my own heart. That Steering wheel is perfect for your build. love it. Nice work Mike. And don't worry about a little slop, front tires won't be on the ground all that much anyway!
@intheshoptv3 ай бұрын
YES! And a killer meal out afterwards. Yeah I love the wheel - the position of the column still needs a little tweaking though. Yeah, minor slop, but to be honest, I think once its connected via shaft TO the rack/wheels, that slop will be gone. Thanks brother - keep up the good work over there.

Great job Mike! I like the combo of wheel and column buddy, great choice. Totally understand the 14” vs 15” difference, gotta see those nice gauges you’re going to put in lol. I know you’re going a black out theme, but having a column support there in polished aluminum might look awesome too. Just a little bit of bling!

If I switched back to the 2.5” drop, the 14” wheel would be perfect, but I worry about the angle and it points right at my front brake lines. I might play with it and see if it works. Thanks brother.

Another great informative video! Looks great. Happy birthday>. Man, if I had known you were going to be at Summit I would have tried to meet you there. I'm just one exit down past Summit and don't even get on the freeway to go there. Just a quick 12 minute back road trip. Keep the videos coming and we'll keep watching.

@@darrylqmiller thank you! Really?? Im 3 hours away…(although Atlanta traffic always makes it 4hrs lol). I’ll try and remember to reach out next time I visit. If you’re ever up in Greenville - Id love to have you over to the shop!

@@intheshoptv I'm assuming you're in SC although there is a Greenville in GA, SC and NC! My ex has a lake house in NC which is kind of close and the kids make me go up once in a while when she is traveling so maybe our paths may cross one day. Kind of odd situation but the kids love it there so I do it. Anyways, been watching since you were building the shop because I came across you when I was looking for ideas for building mine. Been watching ever since. Keep up the great work brother. In my shop we are currently building a 1985 S-10 with a 740 horse LS that's my buddies and my 66 Lincoln is headed to the body shop this Friday for a little frame straightening (yes its a unibody car and has no frame but what else do you call it?)

@@darrylqmiller Sweet ride for sure! Yes! Im in Greenville County. In the country but only about 3 miles outside of city limits and all the amenities. Helene was pretty rough to us - how’d you guys do?

@@intheshoptv It got me too! Blew over a big hickory into the road out in front of the house. Didn't realize the little basement room that has my hot water heater and furnace flooded and they were not working until we ran out of hot water later Friday evening Got the hot water heater fixed myself the next morning but didn't have A/C for a week. Definitely not nearly as bad as a lot of people so I'm not complaining.

@@darrylqmiller Same. I watched a giant pine miss the shop by inches. Couldn’t breathe for about 15 seconds. Literally. SOOOO many tree down on my land, lots of damage - but none to health and home, thank God!

Good choice on the color. On old cars, with the column being exposed, I like it better when they blend in, as opposed to chrome or polished ones.
@intheshoptv3 ай бұрын
Thanks. That was my EXACT thought process behind choosing that color.
