Great job. Just found your channel, wanted to see the rear quarter replacements and now I just have to watch the progress and the process. I have a 64 1/2 that my Dad restored back in 1990, but its been sitting now since 1999. He bought it when I was 4 or 5 and I still remember when we picked it up. It's in rough shape now but I'm watching your work and it's really inspiring me to get on it. My dad passed away about 6 years ago now, and it's killing me, I really want to get started soon.

Glad you like the channel. There’s plenty of great channels out there that can help you along the way. I’d recommend tuning into Jo Daddy’s Garage on KZbin. It’s excellent detailed content. 👍

My first car when I turned 16, in 1974 was a Mustang like this it was the color of blue that some of your parts are. I paid $600 for it and it looked brand new. Would love to buy a few of them for that price now. You have a nice Mustang . Thanks for sharing.

Your car is like Brooks From Shawshank Redemption. It’s been in the garage so long it’s become institutionalized and can’t handle the outside world.

I have a 66 l6 as well. The engines are notoriously hard to get a good idle. Just did all my brakes and suspension. Have been in exactly that position lol

It's idling pretty good. Is that good or bad?...lol. Let her know that it's a good idea to have a fire extinguisher in every car. Cars catch fire all of the time...lol.

Fun Fact: no matter what vehicle you have, you SHOULD have a fire extinguisher. Even the new junk. Andrew... Do you see how the clip that holds your e-brake lever into the brake shoe is pinched on your extra set of brake shoes? Yours need to look like that or your clip may fall out. Agreed. Sounds like a fuel issue. Starvation. At first I thought the fuel pump was giving up the ghost, but maybe there's trash in the carb? You can pull the idle mixture screw out completely (count the turns before removing) and blast some carb cleaner in through it and follow it with compressed air. Reinstall the idle mixture screw where it was and see if it will idle. If it does idle correctly and smooth, this is not a fix. It just means there's trash int he carb and it will need to be gone through. BTW, i still talk to my old man too. Especially when I'm working on his cars, generally giving him a hard time. I know he can hear me. Crazy thing is, even having being gone a year and a half now, I still put everything back where he has it (in his shop). Crazy? Strange? Meh..

Hey Daniel, I did pinch the clip before putting the new springs back in so we’re good there. I just decided to fully comment and disassemble the carb tonight to clean it. And yep, there was dirt and debris in there. I can’t for the life of me figure out where it’s coming from. The choke cap was filled with metal shavings. I had to drill out what was left of the old heat riser tube out of the manifold to install the new one. I think the shavings blew out of the manifold and up through the new heat riser tube into the choke cap. But I don’t think the passage in the choke goes into any fuel areas of the carb. I’m scratching my head. Anyway, I’m picking up a new online fuel filter tomorrow before I connect anything back up. And yeah, I talk to my dad all the time.

@@GreaseRookie hard to say where the garbage came from. Could have been in the pump, or in the lines and just finally shook loose. But you are on the right track.👍 A filter between the carb and pump you can keep an eye will do the trick. Like you were saying, working the bugs out, exactly what it all is. 😁 Hey at least you were within walking distance! When this very thing happened to me years ago I was an hour and a half away from home headed to the coast!! LOL

This was a great episode! Working out the kinks, like it happens in the real world. And the whole family involved. Carrying a fire extinguisher is cheap insurance. Even if your own car never catches fire, you may drive upon a scene where a fire needs to be put out. Funny how we are informed about plans that involve us. We find out about those plans right before they are being set into motion. As a result, our plans for the day have to be altered or canceled altogether. When it comes to decision making, I'm easily outvoted by just one vote... All joking aside, it was heartwarming to see the dynamics in your family in this episode. We, your viewers, are proud of you. So is your wife, your daughters and your dog. And your dad.

Thanks Gudmundur. I had a lot of fun with my daughter when the car broke down. She always ends up being a big help. With I could have caught more of that on camera but she was too busy working with her hands to be filming. I definitely made some memories I’ll never forget. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

She is getting there. Sort out the charging , connect the fuel tank then sort the carb out. Make sure it is not running on so low voltage that it is loosing voltage . The patronix ignition likes the correct voltage or they get grumpy.

I had a "doh" moment like this, when I converted my 67 to the Sniper EFI, we removed the external regulator and forgot to reconnect lol, drive fine for a day or so but we noticed voltage slowly going down and down - wife comes home from parents and I take her out for our first drive, car proceeds to die just after the drive through and we had her towed home to work on - good times man!

I don't get that lucky when I have car issues on the road. What was really bad was where I used to live had a super steep driveway and there was no getting a car up the driveway not under its own power without a tow truck. I'm going to send the better half your way as her and your wife would get along like a house on fire... Fortunately I left her in Cleveland for a week again while I am at home. I'm supposed to pick her up at the airport Saturday.... Even better is that she is going back up there a few days after that... Don't tell her I said that though. :) Oh and the most important question... What's that green stuff on top of the dirt? I got home after a few days away and what little green I had is now all gone.
