I LOVE this real life review! as a father of two, I recently spent about 2 months scouting and testing sh ** t SUVs, overpriced Mini Vans and cool Wagons that couldn't fit in my garage. I would go visit car dealers with my stroller and baby seat, testing all the mounting positions just as you did in the video. My baby hauler was a MkIV GTI. Mine was a 5dr, but, at least in the States, I think they all were. I’m 5’10”, but fortunately, my wife is 5’3”. If she was my height, there would have been a comfort issue, but, things as they were, they worked fine. When he was 5, I replaced it with a CX-9. No issues there at all, and even roomier now that he’s big enough for a booster.

Dad here! I used the Nuna Pipa rear facing seat for my daughter when she was an infant because the ISOFIX points are rigid. No need to push down on the base to get it to be secured. Just snap it into the anchor points and keep it moving. For the rear facing I went with Maxicozi. At about $300 each they’re not cheap but not too crazy either so I bought two so I can put one in each of our cars. As for the the SV trim, I don’t recommend any parent get the top trim of any car lol. Your kid will just destroy it. My only requirement was some type of leather/synthetic leather seats for easy cleaning.

Hey Yuri, just wanted to talk to you about how to get ahold of someone who can help with making sure the car seat is properly installed. First, go to a fire station. Talk with one of the office ladies or men to see if someone can help you. You should be good to go unless, there’s no one there to be certified to install car seats. If that is the case, to talk to their training officer and they should forward you to a department, or person who is certified. This should work regardless of country, city, state, etc.

Really like this video. Don't even have kids or any on the way but I found the babyseat testing interesting and unique. I haven't really seen any other car reviews talk about it other than will a babyseat actually fit. From one dad to another, nice work. The infant seats with separate base are great, but they key is whether you can sit in front of the installed baby seat as a full grown adult. I have to resort to Uber passenger mode if we’re in my wife’s golf or pretty much any car and I’m not driving (I’m 6’-3). Once you move up to a rear facing convertible car seat you’ll be horrified at how much space they take up!

Center mounting the baby seat will also allow a more full range of motion for both front seats. Maybe not an issue in the Rouge when you are 5ft7.... but in smaller cars or with taller front seat occupants, it can make a huge difference. When we had one of our baby seats mounted behind the driver seat in our 2013 Jetta Sportwagen, the seating/pedal position was actually painful for me to drive. Even just 30 minute trips killed my ankle because of the angles involved.
