Note: KZbin muted the whole video because of a copyright claim over one song. I'm working on a solution.
In April 2016, my friends and I drove from New York City to Los Angeles over nine days - making stops in Washington, DC, Nashville, St. Louis, Kansas City, Colorado Springs, Monument Valley, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Death Valley. My absolute favorite part about road trips irl is the like "build up" to whatever city your headed to. The gradual change in the world around you, and then all of a sudden you're there, in a totally different city with it's own climate, vibes, and people.

My favorite part of these cross country trips is when after driving through flatlands for so long the Rocky Mountains appear out of nowhere and they are massive!

When my son was getting an MBA at Stanford, we drove across country twice from NY to Palo Alto, once on route 80 and the other time on Route 90, with three overnight stops each time. It was a wonderful experience. I hope this tour moves others to find an excuse to do the same. America is a beautiful, diverse, and peaceful country. Thank you for screening this.

Starts off heading south on some highway, then hits NJ Turnpike. Crosses the Delaware memorial bridge, and takes I-95 to Baltimore. Takes one of the tunnels, and takes the north belt around DC exiting in the Bethsesda area. Not far from the NIH. After that, is out of my neck of the woods. I am sure If someone took the time they could slow down the video and follow on a map.

That would be awesome! I recognized a few like Kansas and Colorado and of course the ones near NY and Cali but it gets a bit lost between PA and the western part of the Midwest. Kansas is the really flat one in the middle where it's just grass and sky, then the grass turns deserty in Co, and the Rockies rise out of the horizon. Sometimes if you pause at stoplights you can reed the plates of other cars assuming they aren't out of state. You can also see Monument valley I believe from Arizona (it looks like Thunder Mt from Disney) and Vegas with the Monorail

I have to admit on trips like this It's almost like bragging just driving around with my way out of state plates and a car covered in dirt. It's like anyone can tell you really made the trek. I wanna take a pic one day of my NY plate in a desert covered in sand dust

Last night I watched this entire video. All nearly three hours of it. One of the parts I found particularly disturbing was the convoluted routing between I-70 in the plains of Western Kansas and Colorado Springs. A direct route would simply be to follow I-70 to Limon and then US 24 to Colorado Springs. x This morning I have taken the time to view this segment of the video on my laptop and was able to break down the actual route as follows. x Exit I-70 at Exit 76 to US 40 West, Oakley Follow US 40 West to Cheyenne Wells. (Stops at Sinclair and Kwik Korner Service Stations) Follow US 40 West to US 287 at Kit Carson Follow US 40 - US 287 multiplex North West to Colorado 94 Follow Colorado 94 West to (Break in Video) Lincoln County Route 109 North to US 40 - US 287 multiplex at Hugo Follow US 40 - US 287 multiplex North West to Hugo Loaf and Jug Follow US 40 - US 287 multiplex North West to US 24 at Limon (Crossing I-70 2x on the east side of Limon) Follow US 24 West to Woodman Road at Falcon. Follow Woodman Road West to Rangewood Drive Follow Rangewood Drive South to Woodland Hills Drive x From Woodland Hills Drive the route goes into a residential neighborhood of no particular interest to either road enthusiasts or travelers. I may come back later an fill in a few more "blanks" in some parts of this video such as the less than direct route between Nashville and St. Louis or the convoluted routing between Pahrump and Mojave. x If anyone wonders what the "x"s are for, for some reason this comment wants to post as a single block of text, even when I put in spaces between lines.

Man, I'm in the middle of the country and have only travelled West from here, and the North-East just looks weird! I mean, like different, not necessarily bad. Like basically the NorthEast doesn't seem to have that huge, open, spread out, new type of feel compared to places like Dallas, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, etc.. Instead, it's older (not in a bad way), and more compact/mixed. Further west it's more seperated. Like huge malls here, houses over there.
