I'm from Australia, and at about the 5:00 mark when the buffalo were on the road I couldn't believe how calmly they were just walking. Then I remember, we have the same problem with kangaroos. Great video, I want to do a similar road trip in the USA one day!

They're calm till they're not. I would not want to be that close to them outside of a vehicle. North America is a heck of a continent and worth seeing. Australia sounds interesting, I would imagine that it is harder to traverse than the US. Cheers from the USA by the way.

Im american and have driven from California to the state of Vermont as well as from VT to CA a sum of 5 times now with different routes. This country is so fucking diverse it's insane. You should come over here someday and do it! I have a close friend in Sydney and we wants me to visit someday and to a trip to Perth one day :) Im a good road trip buddy! lol

We were stupid (first time using a GoPro) and believe it or not we took full motion video of the whole trip. It's all 30fps, and I accelerated it in FinalCut Pro. There's over .5TB of video ... next time we'll do it differently. I probably have enough footage to make another couple videos actually ... not including the photos / video we took of stuff we did when we stopped at various places ... good times.

It wasn't too expensive, all the stuff we did it was about $1,600 per person for a 4 week trip. So about $400 a week.

I’m leaving on a long road trip next week starting in SC going to Astoria OR but taking the low road though Texas to NM or AZ before heading north I’m going to use my GP4 Black And a couple Drones were i can (National parks are banned for UAVs :( ) I hope to put together a simular video with some UAV footage, this was a great inspiration and gave me a few ideas I just have to figure out how to store all the data with most places we will camp not having power to recharge my equipment I might just get a Pure sinewave Inverter, the GoPro is simple it will run and charge off the 12v in the rental car but the drones are another story, great video

A lot of it was shot at 30 frames per second and then blended with optical flow in Final Cut. I didn’t like how the exposure changed with taking images at intervals so we just said screw it and captured 500GB of video.

Thanks Christ! I want to do the same thing. Was the above video the full 30fps? If so, yeah a lot of Terrabytes. But much more viewable than =1 or 5 fps. I want to create very smooth road trip videos that are easy on the eyes. I think you would need to take a high frame rate, but speed it up on the playback, You might have to sacrifice a little on the resolution, but smooth would be better. In any case, it looks to me you did the best you could, and I liked it!

It was mounted outside. We used a variety of settings at first but eventually settled on 720p 30fps.

Everything was filmed at 720p 30 frames per second. The footage was color corrected and sped up in Final Cut Pro and blended with optical flow.

Sini Star We just set the camera to capture video and then drove. We didn't use the time lapse function at all. Nothing fancy.

I forget the card size. I think we used the largest the GoPro manual said could be used. Total video take was about 500GB. We only used a small portion to make this KZbin video, roughly 10 hours of drive time. Thanks for watching.

Sini Star you can set it up easier with one of the new go pro 4 series set up shutter time lock iso an white balance but i think you can also cheat a little bit with setting the spot right easy way: get a dslr and do it in manual
