Beautiful Granddaddy fatwood knot! they are Big! Just be careful with snakes and the heat What's that lil bottle sittin on granddaddy! Man that juice is seeping out. I wanted to see you swing that axe 😅 So gorgeous ! "Lot of work" ~but well worth it! Now why is the twisted part called sap wood? I recon my Q is, what is the purpose of the sap wood layer?

🪓🪓🪓 I'll record the axe swinging next time. 😃 The little bottle is my chainsaw oil. It's actually a CA glue bottle. It has a nice nozzle on it. The sap wood layer is the skin. It's between the bark and the heart wood. Most of the time I am lucky to have it rotted off over time. Not with the Austrian pine. That is one tough hearty tree.
